phunni
Getting a new laptop tomorrow and just getting myself ready to put Linux on it. I will have it (some of the time) hooked up to a KVM switch so that I can use my main monitor, keyboard and mouse to control it. Are there any hassles in setting up two monitors? Obviously the laptop will have it's own monitor and also I will be using my main monitor, but I'm not certain how to set this up...
Michel
A possibility I know of is xinerama... can't tell you more. I know the desktop fvwm2 is xinerama-compatible ... you have to look into yours to see if it has to be (/is) xinerama-compatible ..or if all desktops are xinerama-compatible.... iphitus
Fluxbox is xinerama compatible too. It has one flaw in it's Xinerama and that is that pixmap themes will be garbled if the two monitors are running a different color depth. Not that hard to fix tho, just use the same color depth. phunni
Ok - I think I may have been unclear in my question. The monitors won't be used at the same time (although I will probably look into that at some point). I will use the KVM switch so that, when I am at home, my main monitor will be the monitor for all my PCs - laptop and desktop, and when I'm on the road the laptop will use it's own monitor All I need to know is, do I need to set up 2 monitors in XF86Config? And, if so, how do I set up for this?
