Can't get servers installed

I have installed Mandrake 9.2 successfully, however even though I selected to install a bunch of different servers, they don't appear to be there. I looked it up in the MDK help page and followed the directions to configure the servers but the server tab isn't there on the configure page, as it appears in the helpfiles. I tried reinstalling and still no servers.

try to install webmin and configure the servers from there. its been a long time since i tinkered with server installations but there is a directory wherein all the server scripts are placed. if my memory serves me right it is in /etc/rc.d. there are a bunch of scripts like httpd, sound, etc. go to that directory and you can do (example for the apache service) ./httpd status (if its supported) or ./httpd restart. i hope you get the idea. but i really recommend that you install webmin to facilitate the administration.

ciao!

You can use the install packages screen and filter the packages to see if they still need to be installed. If you want to check if Apache is installed, go to http://localhost - you should see a test page if Apache is installed and running. You may need to start it, you can do so from the DrakXServices screen in the Mandrake Control Center, there you can also choose if it should start at boot. If the httpd process is not in the list, it appears not to be installed and you should be able to reinstall it from the packages screen.

As for the MySQL server, you can check if that has been installed by opening terminal, login as root and go to your mysql/bin dir (not sure what the default folder is of the Mandrake package, I installed manually) and type './mysqld_safe'. You should see something like this:

Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /usr/local/mysql/data
