chris-tux
hi, i have mdk 9.1 working but today got big pb during boot: seems that i have a pb with a disk: ldm_validate_partition_table(): Disk read failed. Ixthusdan
Have you used a utility from another os on the drive? How old is the drive? Do you have a third partyy utility program with which you can verify the integrity of the drive? Does it seek ok during boot, but then fails to read, or does it error upon seek? chris-tux
i used partition magic 7.0; tried to boot from the floppies from partition. It detected an error in the number of cylinders, indicated that it was corrected but nope... I have 2 HD (1 40 Gb 6 yo and one 100 Gb 2 yo) During mdk booting, i have the error after Lilo and it doesn't go the graphical login prompt but instead switch to the terminal login (i am abble then to log in)
Ixthusdan
So, you can get into linux. OK,what happens if you type "startx"? Maybe I should also know the contents of your /etc/fstab file. Since you can get in, maybe there is hope!! B)

chris-tux
perhaps, all my pbms have something to do with the upgrade of XFree86 with mdke 9.1 see the following post http://www.mandrakeusers.org/index.php?sho...howtopic=10340#
chris-tux
I think that it has something to do with the XFree86 config. I reinstalled the old packages and then everything is ok...
