You can try using the VESA driver. If you get a display, then work on figuring out what driver is needed by your card (it should be the radeon driver...). You likely will not want to use the VESA driver long-term unless you are not doing anything graphically taxing, as it is a very generic and slow driver.

 

If that driver does not work, then the problem is in some other part of the X configuration.
