  1. Sorry about that, i didn't see that sentence I have no idea how to run x0rfbserver on ssh, but anyway.. i gues i'll sitck witk VNC cheers
  2. Exactly. it start's new desktop! Do you know perhaps how to enable the "- enable the VNC module for XFree86/X.Org" , perhaps over URPMI or something like that? As for the tfb0xserver or something... i tried it but it seems to me that it overloads the processor a little. Beside that it refuses to start if accesing computer over SSH...
  3. Hi I'm having this kind of issue. When logged in as a user in KDE i put in command VNCSERVER :1 to start vncserver with display 1. But when connecting to this server from a remote computer, this remote computer automaticaly makes a NEW remote log on, instead of runnig VNCserver in the same window on server. What am i doing wrong? I've been using vnc for wuite a while now on other distros and Windblows and i did't have this kind of trouble yet cheers

    fstab file

thanks, so much about this annoyance, i solved it. But what about the fstab file, in fact it was that file which was causing trouble in the first place, the kde bug came as a consequence.. I forgot to write that before but i had a perfectly working fstab on my first instillation (friend's contribution :)) but in got lost after the reinstallation. Regards P.S. how to find really relevant updates in bugfixes for kde, if i don't want to download some 130 MB :D of all the updates ?

    fstab file

Hi I'm sorry for the inconvenience but i haven't found a single post where the fstab command for USB flash would be described. I have a 256 MB jetram and i would like to manage it from kwikdisk - however this fstab configurartion (I found it in another topic) doesn't work fine - Once stable kde begins to hang up, other devices become unreadable etc etc. # This file is edited by fstab-sync - see 'man fstab-sync' for details /dev/hda6 / ext3 defaults 1 1 none /mnt/cdrom supermount dev=/dev/hdc,fs=auto,ro,exec,--,umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,users 0 0 none /mnt/cdrom2 supermount dev=/dev/hdd,fs=auto,ro,--,umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,users 0 0 none /mnt/floppy supermount dev=/dev/fd0,fs=ext2:vfat,--,umask=0,iocharset=iso8859-1,sync,codepage=850 0 0 /dev/hda1 /mnt/windows ntfs umask=0,nls=iso8859-1,iocharset=utf8,ro 0 0 none /proc proc defaults 0 0 /dev/hda5 swap swap defaults 0 0 I'm running mandrake 10.1, without updates so far. I read that there are some bugfixes but i can't download them because my internet connection is bad.
  6. thanks, this helped and at least all the sources installed - i checked the "Use compressed index, much smaller than normal, with less informations". However, does urpmi work smoothly as ever with this sources or is it better to download the whole repository... just being curious. Perhaps a bit off-topic, but are there any other options for updating the URPMI database, except for the easy-urpmi and he GUI based mandrake control center tool? Anyway, thanks a lot
  7. Hi I wanted to add and update my urpmi sources but i couldn't download them because they're very big. The problem is that my phone line is interrupting all the time but, the Konsole based urpmi doesn't seem to know how to "resume" the unfinished download. is it possible to download source packages by direct download to your system and then add them to URPMI? Thanks for your help!
  8. Ok so i have this kind of question: Is there any program in for KDE that would be able to change the fans' speeds. there are some similirar programs under WIN XP which enables you to read the sensors and even change the fan speeds manually. they're more or less universal for all types of motherboards. thank's in advance, and best regards
  9. Hi again. Really sorry for that, iI've somehow missed the PLF file on the Easy-Urpmi homepage so of course it didn't install. Really sorry fot the trouble and wasted time; at least I learned something new about the Mandrake now. Best regards
  10. well sorry but somehow i get the feeling we aren't solving this problem the rigth way. I installed URPMI, updated it from it's home adress but when tiping in the command urpmi apollon it still doesn't find anything. I updatet urpmi database (easy urpmi) with "main " and updates packages. Contrib doesn't want to isnatll for some reason So here's my question : why do i have to look for a new installer if the error seems to refers to X sistem itself. "Can't find X includes. Please check your installation and add the correct paths!" What is more, if i hadn't mistaken there isn't actually any other installer available in urpmi database? Is there anything that must be done in X config itself. I just could not belive that application, made for X-users (beginners) like me isn't properly configured. Problem is probably at my system.Oh yes, i forgot, i find of course rpm's with apollon but they need linkig to gIFT core, and i'm having problems there also so i would prefer to instal it from installer. Thanks
  11. well i somehow doubted that it was libxorg-devel but i decided to give it a shot.. Downloaded libxorg-x11-deve..l.somehting/.rpm but it didn't want to installl, it required multiarch utils. I downloaded multiarch-utils-something.rpm and installed them but that din't helped either (oh yeah, by the way, those utils are extremely small, some 7 or 9 kB i think. Is that correct ? they installed correctly...) What's the problem now? or is maybe some other solution to this, or coulde it be that it isn't the libxorg at all. There should be an easier way! That application appolon was made to work on KDE, so why does the problem with dependecies appear????/
  12. So here''s my annoyance: i was installing apollon-installer.run with command ./apolon-blah-blah...-run A really nice user-interface appeared with step to step guide but during the instalation, when installer was compilling the programme this message popped up: "Can't find X includes. Please check your installation and add the correct paths!" I'm beginner at Linux but i searched internet and some people were suggesting that the XFree86-devel or some X-devel libraries should be installed. My distro is Mandrake 10.2 beta (don't ask why i decided to start with beta, at least it's been working preety good so far, i had 9.1 earlier and i'm impressed by 10.2) What would be the possible solution? Or which packages need to be installed. I assume that a distro this big should contain most of the libraries but i just could not find them.. this *.run archive is working very well in fact, it has a great rating Thanks in advance!
