  2. that specific access point is one setup at my college, it asks you to login via a web interface before you can get access to the internet. i tried it also at my home with a linksys router with its default settings, still have the same problem, it recognizes the router, but i cannot connect to the routers webinterface. its really driving me insane. I noticed that most people who talk about this driver have the B/G wireless chipset. I have the A/B/G chipset which uses the same driver might this be the problem?
  3. it seems to work, but for somereason it fails when i try to connect to the internet, when run iwconfig this is what i get eth2 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"newpaltz" Nickname:"localhost" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: 00:11:5C:E2:24:E0 Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off Encryption key:off Power Management:off Link Quality=93/100 Signal level=-33 dBm Noise level=-89 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:11 Missed beacon:0 when i check out the network monitoring it recieves data which shows it is working, but it fails to connect. when i open up a browser it should redirect me to a login page.
  4. I have gone to control center and add software, I did a search for 2200 but nothing came up, i ran a search for ipw and the 2100 package came up but nothing for the 2200.
  5. I actually decided to compile and install the linux drivers, and copy the firmware over. the card is now recognized and "connects to the network" it receives and sends packets but it cannot connect to the internet now. any ideas?
  6. I am trying to get the wireless to work with 2005 LE, it is giving me a massive headache. when i try to set it up using ndiswrapper but after i choose the new driver it goes back to the same screen, to either use a new driver or another driver which is not the correct one. i also tried to manually load the driver in config tool and when I choose the driver which is listed a window quickly pops up and goes away (before i can even make out what it says) and it returns to select the network interface to configure option again. i tried to download the driver to build and install, but when i type make i get this error make -C /lib/modules/2.6.11-6mdk-i686-up-4GB/build SUBDIRS=/home/dan/ipw2200-1.0.3 MODVERDIR=/home/dan/ipw2200-1.0.4 modules make: ***/lib/modules/2.6.11-6mdk-i686-up-4GB/build: No such file or directory. Stop. make: ***[modules] Error 2 not sure how to fix this or why that directory is missing any ideas on what I need to do? thanks guys dan
  7. ok well that error only happened once, here is the problem that happens all the time Warning: Symbol map for key <BLAH> redefined Using last definition for conflicting fields **it says that alot of times at the bottom it says** Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server startkde: Starting up.... ksplash: /user/local/lib/libgcc_s.so.1: version 'GCC_3.3' not found (required by /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5) kdeinit: /user/local/lib/libgcc_s.so.1: version 'GCC_3.3' not found (required by /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5) startkde: Could not start kdeinit. I dont know what is causing this, the only thing i can think of that i have done recently was compile and install wine, and change splash screen
  8. I restarted my computer and logged onto windows, i then restarted again and ran linux ,when I went to go run kde, it starts to run and then exits saying, Fatal Server Error: No Screen Found......any ideas on how to fix this? oh this is mandrake 10.0 by the way thanks
  9. thanks for the welcome, i checked out KMix and noticed there was only one ac97, along with several others such as emu10K1 Send, emu10k1 Send Routing, Emu10K1 PCM, PC Speaker, Wave LFE, Wave Center, Center, PCM , Treble, bass, headphones, master
  10. ok guys, I have mandrake 10.0 installed now the sound only works when I have the speakers plugged into the first port of the card right next to the joystick port. but when i switch to windows XP I have to switch the speakers to the second port of the card (2 ports away from the joystick port)....if I leave it in the 2nd port with mandrake i get either a really annoying high pitch sound or a repeated thump sound....if i leave it in the 1st port with windows there is no sound at all....by the way this is the soundblaster LIVE! 5.1 gamer card. any idea as to how i can fix this? thanks for any help
