i get 1 hit if i do that.
/usr/share/apps/kappfinder/apps/Internet/mozilla-firefox.desktop
but i do not see ANYTHING new on my desktop or in internet ==> webbrowsers or anywhere else
-
Firefox 1.0.2 comes at the main repo of 2005LE, and not at the club repos.
This binary may or may not work with 10.1, but I cannot see why the ftp.mozilla.org binary shouldn't. Also getting the source rpm(s) from official/2005/SRPMS/main/ and doing the custom "rpm --rebuild mozilla*.src.rpm" should work.
you lost me

cant find mozilla-firefox anywhere :(
-
i tried make an launcher and open /usr/bin/firefox but nothing happens
That's because the Firefox executable is actually /usr/bin/mozilla-firefox. Try that.
As far as I know, there is no Mandrake rpm of the latest version of Firefox (1.0.2) other than the one in the just-released-to-Club-members-only Mandriva Limted Edition. For now, the easiest way I know to get a Firefox 1.0.2 rpm is go to RPMfind-Speakeasy at:
Download and save the RPM:
firefox-1.0.2-3.i386.rpm (which is actually for Fedora Core3).
yes there is... look here GREAT site

i tried again to upgrade to mozilla 1.7.6 when i install the RPM it asks if i want to install it but it wont install
i tried to install the mozilla 1.7.3-1 version (also RPM) same thing as above
if i check my version it still says 1.7.2
also i tried to install firefox the installation looks ok. but i cant start it
i tried make an launcher and open /usr/bin/firefox but nothing happens
i tried to run an application and typed firefox nothing happens..

It is really not difficult to install the linux version from mozilla.org. MUCH easier than compiling anything.
i installed an RPM. but it won load pages. how do i install the non rpm version ?
-
Hi all,
i have mandrake 10.1 installed with all updates. i noticed that there never was a mozilla update and i wanted to try 1.7.6 because 1.7.2 gave trouble with sites where you can do payments and internet banking.
so i downloaded the 1.7.6 RPM from penquin libaration front. (great site) though the installation was succesfull i could not load a single page with it. so i uninstalled it and installed back to 1.7.2 RPM from the same site
everything is now back, WTF i want the newest version

You can't change the permissions on a mounted FAT device, because FAT doesn't have permissions, Linux basically 'makes them up' - i.e., it sets some up when it mounts the device, and you control what they are when it's mounted and at no other time. The reason only root can access the drive is because you have high security level set; having normal users able to access USB devices is something of a security problem so msec's high security level only gives root access. You should be able to configure this in MCC, or just drop the security level down to standard. Or just get used to using root to access it...
problem solved

i saw a tab in properties and it says: only directories in your home can be shared
maybe thats the problem???

Just had a quick look at my etc/fstab file, where I have a 128MB USB2.0 pendrive set up. Here's the entry, in case it's of any help:
/dev/sda /mnt/usb vfat umask=0,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850,noauto,user 0 0
i removed the USB drive and removed the first device the a reboot. now it does not show my USB drive double, but root is still owner and i cant do shit with it (no write rights) i tried to open nautilus from SU in console and now i have the option to change owner and rights, but it will not change...
if i want to give write rights, i click on it and the box is marked but it immediatly unmarks
if i want to change file owner to my name it says: the owner could not be changed
if i want to change file group is says: the group could not be changed
WTF
-
It seems that because the change is hand made, the autodetect/mount feature in Mandrake will create a new /mnt/removable2 whenever you unplug and plug the usb key disk again.
Try deleting the /mnt/removable line in your /etc/fstab. Reboot, then plug in your usb key disk again.
BTW, what is the security option do you choose for your Mandrake?
security level is high.
i try to delete the entry now

nobody can help me ? :(

I purchased a USB 2.0 USB drive (256Mb) and it all goes well it is detected as a removable drive. problem is that the owner is root. so i can write to it...
i tried to change that with chown name removable then i get a error that it cant be changed. so i searched and tried some things.
in /etc/fstab i changed the value umask value from 0022 to 000 but Mandrake changed it back & assed the same device again, result is that i see my removable drive twice i realy do not like that. another strage thing is that one device is set to my name and the other is set to root as owner.
when i remove the USB drive:
removable drive stays in my computer (this one is set to root)
removable2 drive disapears (this one is set to my name)
can someone help me so i see my drive only once and set it to my name??? i cant log in as root because i only can click my name when i login (i cant type root as a user or click on root to login)
this is my /etc/fstab file
/dev/sda2 / ext3 defaults 1 1/dev/sda4 /home ext3 defaults 1 2

it works

i also tried:
start==>system==>configuration==>gnome==>sound
ther is nothing about a mic
i tried:
right click on the speaker in my systray and set it to mic. but that does`nt work either
also tried it in KDE but no result there either
-
Open a console, type alsamixer, go to the 'mic select' column and select the other mic :)
well i tried that but i cant choose a mic, matter in fact cant find nothing regarding a mic.
-
i have purchased a microfone today but it won`t work. it works fine in winblows...

Hmmm.... I compile my own kernels in Gentoo and it was a case of getting all the right modules in there to make it work. Not sure what they've put into the Mandrake kernel.
Might be worth trying to compile a vanilla kernel and seeing if that works, obviously keeping the mandrake kernel around so you can go back to it.
Other ideas: go into the Mandrake Control Centre and see if it is starting bluetooth as a service at boot. It might be worth rebooting with your dongle plugged in to the usb port as Mandrake might only load the required kernel modules that way.
So I would - plug in the dongle, reboot, run hcitool hci0 up and then hcitool scan, if it doesn't work investigate how Mandrake actually adresses bluetooth in the kernel, and then try a vanilla kernel if you can't figure it out.
i am a newbie this is not something that i can do :o
when i shutdown, i see bluetooth service being terminated so it is started, my bluetooth dongle is always in my PC...
i am losing it, i want it to work

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question: but you have bluetooth turned on on your phone right?
yep 100% sure that is all ok
i have a Nokia 6600 and bluetooth is on and set to can be discovered...
if i switch to windoze it works fine, but i do not want to switch to windoze
-
advanced programmable interrupt controller?
yep that is correct
-
So if i go into mcc (from the commandline) and go into display settings or whatever that is and choose VESA is the video adapter selection, it should install the drivers for that and work?
I'm using 9.2 just because it was what I had laying around, perhaps i will download 10. Would that even fix the problem though?
10.1 should solve a lot of things i asume. try it and you know :)
-
start ===> system ===> cinfiguration ===> configure your computer ===> security ===> firewall
walk trough the steps (select what you want to pass throug the firewall) and at the last step you get ppp+ change it to eth0: nVidia Corp.|nForce2 MCP Networking Adapter
then it should work i guess...
i asume you get everything by DHCP (automaicly)???
ps. i am a newbie too
