  1. Sweet I've got D4x Installed. What command would I type in to shut the pc down at what ever time I wish? I have tried the terminal command but it didn't work. Do I have to use special commands?
  2. Hi all. I'm wondering if there is a program for linux that will allow me to either disconnect the dial up modem or shut the PC down at a given time. Ie at 6am just before we wake up so the phone line is free. Or just before the wife gets home from work. I used to use getright with Windows and it did a great job at this. I'd prefer to have it disconnect and shut down.
  3. Have you had any luck with this problem? I get the exact fault aswell and I also have the correct files etc installed. I ended up giving up.
  4. THank you very much for that. It gave me a whole buch of errors about not having user acces to do it but still worked anyway. Not sure why it went like that to start with but its working so I'm happy. Thanks again
  5. I'm having the same issues with /mnt/Movies Here is my entire fstab file just incase there is something in there causing grief. /dev/hda6 / reiserfs notail 1 1 none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0 /dev/hdd2 /mnt/LinuxStuff ext3 defaults 1 2 /dev/hdd1 /mnt/Movies vfat umask=0,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850 0 0 /dev/hdb5 /mnt/OtherStuff ntfs umask=0,nls=iso8859-15,ro 0 0 /dev/hdb1 /mnt/WindowsApps ntfs umask=0022 0 0 /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom auto umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec,users 0 0 /dev/hda1 /mnt/windows ntfs umask=0,nls=iso8859-15,ro 0 0 none /proc proc defaults 0 0 /dev/hda5 swap swap defaults 0 0 /dev/sdd1 /mnt/hd auto umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-15,sync,kudzu,codepage=850,noauto,exec,users 0 0
  6. Sorry for the slow reply. The drive is mounted. How do I use chown to give ownership of /mnt/LinuxStuff & /mnt/Movies and their sub directories to myself?
  7. Hi all. I have a partition called /mnt/LinuxStuff I can create new directories and write to that directory but it won't allow me to create or write to any of the directories inside /mnt/LinuxStuff Anyone one have any clues as to why I can't add files to the directories I can create. The line in fstab is as follows /dev/hdd2 /mnt/LinuxStuff ext3 defaults 1 2
  8. Thanks for all your help. All done.
  9. Hi, IO can;t seem to write to my fat32 drive. Here is my fstab /dev/hda6 / reiserfs notail 1 1 none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0 /dev/hdd2 /mnt/LinuxStuff ext3 defaults 1 2 /dev/hdd1 /mnt/Movies vfat umask=000,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850 0 0 /dev/hdb5 /mnt/OtherStuff ntfs umask=0,nls=iso8859-15,ro 0 0 /dev/hdb1 /mnt/WindowsApps ntfs umask=0022 0 0 /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom auto umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec,users 0 0 /dev/hda1 /mnt/windows ntfs umask=0,nls=iso8859-15,ro 0 0 none /proc proc defaults 0 0 /dev/hda5 swap swap defaults 0 0
  10. Hello all. I'm still quite new to Linux and have never tried emulation before. I was wondering if people can tell me if the follow fault is an easy fix as I would love to get DVD Shrink working on Linux which I hear works well under wine. 11. Hi all. I have an old latop 133mhz Pentium that I would like to use as a linux firewall. What would be the best version of Linux to use obviously due to the low specs? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Heaps
  12. Hello. I have started using D4X download manager and in the scheduler I have the option to run a command. I was wondering if anyone knows the command to disconect my modem from the net or maybe to turn the computer off as well. It was a feature of Getright I really liked. Thanks
  13. Thanks for your help. I did as you told and removed the drivers without any faults or errors. Only prob is that I still get the same error when trying to reinstall them again. Any more clues, or any other logs you need to see?
  14. Hi all. My NVIDIA drivers for some reason have stopped working and I have had to go back to the standard drivers. When ever I try to reinstall the drivers I get the following error. nvidia-installer log file '/var/log/nvidia-installer.log' creation time: Thu Jan 13 21:48:08 2005 option status: license pre-accepted : false update : false force update : false expert : false uninstall : false driver info : false no precompiled interface: false no ncurses color : false query latest driver ver : false OpenGL header files : false no questions : false silent : false no backup : false kernel module only : false sanity : false add this kernel : false no runlevel check : false no network : false no ABI note : false no RPMs : false force tls : (not specified) force compat32 tls : (not specified) X install prefix : /usr/X11R6 OpenGL install prefix : /usr compat32 install prefix : (not specified) installer install prefix: /usr utility install prefix : /usr kernel name : (not specified) kernel include path : (not specified) kernel source path : (not specified) kernel output path : (not specified) kernel install path : (not specified) proc mount point : /proc ui : (not specified) tmpdir : /root/tmp ftp mirror : ftp://download.nvidia.com RPM file list : (not specified) Using: nvidia-installer ncurses user interface -> License accepted. -> There appears to already be a driver installed on your system (version: 1.0- 6629). You may find suggestions on fixing installation problems in the README available on the Linux driver download page at www.nvidia.com. Does anyone have any ideas????
