  1. Our kde-3.5.0 for mandriva 2006.0 relaesed now

This time didnt we release until we had fixed the worst bugs, to get a so stable version as possible at release.

Avtually we have had kde-3.5 running for over a month now.

Anyway the upgrade instruction is the same as for the last kde version upgrade we did.

The new kde-3.5 is available here

The new kde-3.5 is also available here

    Have fun

    Thac & Zé

  2. Update on xorg i have built a new unofficial xorg for 2006.0

this one does work better then any other xorg 6.9 version

    i have tried.

    Please test it.

  3. but there is

    [tobbe@mdk10 ~]$ rpm -qa|grep hal

    hal-0.4.7-11mdk

    libhal0-0.4.7-11mdk

    libhal0-devel-0.4.7-11mdk

theese rpms are available in le2005 main urpmi repository

i have done 2 fresh installs last week and the added all urpmi repositorys as described in our site

and then updated all with urpmi --auto-select

in both cases did the desktop icons work

but if you use the kde-3.4.2 from mandriva the automount desktop icons will not work since this function is disabled in official version.

    Only to make sure.

You are aware of the fact that the floppy,cd,dvd and any usb unit icons only exist if anything is inserted.= automounted?

  4. Hmm it seems that even if mandriva claims that they patched the 1.0.2 source to equal 1.0.6

its obvious that they forgot something.

I dont get it why they judt didnt use the 1.0.6 source instead like i did.

or actually i do know there is the rule abput only adding fixes and updates to current release not new versions .

new versions are only allowed in cooker.

  5. the last post was reffering to Latem

but i will investigate this and come back with an answer when i relly know what is needed to get the icons added.

the strange thing is that it works perfectly on my fresh install i did to test the upgrade from le2005 to our latest kde-3.4.2.

Have you tested to do a

update-menus -v first as root then as user to clean up menus from old settings

  6. Ok i see.

You have installed the kde-3.4.2 rpms from kde.org?

Thesse rpms have the bugs you describe.

And theese rpms does not require plf as requirements.

I would suggest that you use our kde-3.4.2 rpms instead bu t our kde does require plf as requiremnt.

  7. I read how you did this upgrade.

And i must mention that even if you downloaded all rpms in kde dir that is not all that is needed.

If you want to upgrade from alocak dir you will still have to add the needed urpmi repositorys

to make sure you are not missing any needed rquirements.

Add mandrive le2005 main, contrib plf-free and non-free and our own repository.

Then follow the instrucyiuon mentioned here and at our site.

About the missing icons that does not appear it does work here.

Both in my build machine and in the one i just installed to test the latest changes on a fresh install.

So i can only guess that somthing isnt upgraded.

  8. I have just recently found the cause of the kdm bug making it impossible to login using kdm no keyboard and such.

It is now fixed in latest versions.

It was caused by the fact the upgrading kdebase-kdm-config-file didnt replace the existsing 3.3.x config files.

This bug is present in the official kde-3.4 at the club also.

Since the fix in rpm only works on a fresh upgrade.

So if you have upgraded and have this problem you will have to unistall with

    rpm -e --nodeps kdebase-kdm-config-file

as root in console after have sent init 3 to shutdown kde or reboot.

    and the reinstall with

    urpmi kdebase-kdm-config-file

then restart kde with init 5 or reboot.
