(to install) 2- kernel-tmb-source-2.6.7-2.tmb.6mdk.i586 : The source code for the Linux kernel. (to install) 3- kernel24-tmb-source-2.4.26-1.tmb.2mdk.i586 : The source code for the Linux kernel. (to install) 5- kernel-source-stripped-2.6-2.6.8.1-10mdk.i586 : The source code of the Linux kernel stripped for post build. (to install) What is your choice? (1-5) which one should i pick? thanks for helping me out
  5. i've read post after post trying to install the nvidia driver on 10.1...first i upgraded the kernel-source but which one do i pick? there are 5 different choices..this is coming off a fresh install of 10.1 community.. on to the next question..everytime i pick a kernel-source then try to install the nvidia driver it says something about wrong ncompatible kernel-source or something of that sort. it still compiles and runs saying it created its own kernel but when i change nvidia and glx in the xorg.conf file , then use init 5 to come back into kde it wont start up.... only way back is to change glx and nvidia back to normal...can anyone help me? i'm a newb and jus started mandrakelinux 10.1 like last weekend..
  6. how do i fix those issues? sorry i'm really a newb and jus getting the hang of all this linux stuff..thanks alot
  7. i jus upgraded 10.0 official to 10.1 community through net using urpmi. i'm up and running right now ..but i'm trying to get the most current updates for 10.1 community but mandrakeupdate isnt werking it says error: "its impossible to retrieve the list of new packages from media'update-source'. Either this source is misconfigured, and in this case you should use the softwaremedia manager....." and so on....so how i get 10.1 updates? thanx in advance
  8. jus got steam installed at the end it says " wine successfully installed" from there where do i go to install steam and counterstrike? thanks alot in advance..i searched and found nothing...
  9. question right now i have mandrake 10.0 if i wanted mandrake 10.1 community could i jus upgrade the files through that urmpi site by selecting community 10.1? and is there any difference between that and 10.0?
  10. ok lemme get this straight sorry for the stupidity...so if i use the easy urpmi it will automatically update everything? when i type in step three? or do i still need to do mandrake update? thanx alot man
  11. do they both do the same thing? i jus did the urpmi thing what does it exactly do? right now i'm in the konsole and its downloading stuff what do i do when its over?
  12. what should i use to update? the linux updater or urpmi? which one is better or easier..lol. and i'm trying to get winex to work on linux so that i can get steam(counterstrike) but it stops at make depend...kinda stuck
