hi, i am runing mandriva 2006, i installed the qc-usb-0.6.3 driver for my logitech quickcam express, this is the dmesg output: #dmesg | grep usb: registered new driver quickcam when i run the xawtv to see my cam this is the error: $ xawtv This is xawtv-3.94, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.12-12mdk) can't open /dev/video0: No such file or directory v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such file or directory v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such file or directory v4l: open /dev/video0: No such file or directory no video grabber device available i check the /dev directory and didn't find any video or video0 files, please help me.,

thanks for reply, i start to install all the missing packages, so i added a lot of them didn't remeber the names, when i start the x and want to run any application it just hangs on. and i have to reboot from the second console iwth ctrl+alt+f2 the keyboard is working in the console.

hi, i like mandriva 2006, i installed from the cd's with the defualt selected packages, after installation it was runing ok, wanted to add some more or all other packages, with package manager i added some more packages, but now x is starting but can't work when i start any application it just hangs on, the console is working fine, i tested the kde as well gnome desktop, it was on old hard drive i thought may be that is the problem, reinstalled to the new hard drive but the same problem, i used mandrake 10 in the same machine without any prblem also presently runing fedora core 4 with no problem my system is i686, 2,5 G proccessor, 256 mb RAM and 900 mb swap partition.

hi, i just installed mandriva 2006, first problem is the x is hanging so freqently, my system is i686 with 2,6 G processor and 256 mb RAM and 900 mb swap parition, i used mandrake 10 in th past and presently using fedora core 4 as well in the same machine that are runing without any problems, the second problem is, i mounted the /dev/hda6 as /store while mandriva installation, which hold my important data, when last time the gnome pannel hangs, i changed to the console with crtl+alt+f6 and reboot the system, now store is not mounted any more and i can't access the data, when i try to mount the error is: #mount -t ext3 /dev/dha6 /store mount: store is already mounted or store busy then i run the umount command for /store: #umount /store and the result was: mount:store is not mounted even i tried to mount the /dev/hda6 in another mount point /mnt/tmp and got the same error: mount: store is already mounted or tmp is busy pleas help me.

hi, i use mandriva 2006, i added the updates with urpmi.addmedia from easyurpmi, now i want to update the whole insalled packages, it is deffecult to say rupmi to install each individual update. pleas tell me about the command to update the whole packages, thanks for your help. i solved the problem and added the repos to the smart but accidently i deleted the cooker-jpackage url cany any one write me please?

hi, thanks for reply,i am already in runlevel 3,with startx it cannot start the x,in gnome when i want to open any kde application for example when i am trying the kppp this is the error : /usr/bin/kppp:relocation error:/usr/lib/libkdedor.so.4:undefined symbol:qt_x_user_time the error'qt_x_uer_time is with all kde application when i want to open,plz guide me how i can run the kde successuly. thanks

hi, i am using mandrake community 10,i added the all mdiams from easyurpmi.zarb.org,then i upgraded the kde with $urpmi --noclean kdebase and $urpmi --noclean libdepim2-korganizer,at the time of installtion there was conflict between open officeorg-1.1.11 and libkde so i removed the openofficeorg, then all the packages was upgraded successfuly afer reboot ,unfortunately kde cannot start,i can login to gnome,i tired the /usr/bin/kppp but there is error: /usr/bin/kppp:relocation error:/usr/lib/libkdecore.so.4:undefined symbole:gtx_user_time plz and plz help me how i can start kde and how i can connect the modem to internet?

hi, thanks for reply ,is md5sum and md5checksum the same,if these are the same then the output is totally defferent and the iso's are corrupt,or if the md5sum and md5checksum are defferent operations plz write to me how i can check it with md5checksum?

hi, i am using gnome v2.2 in mandrake 10 comunuity,i want to setup chbg to change wallpapers,but when i apply the setup changes and run the chbg from action menu there is a message in the status window 'changing background shading effect' then there is another message 'changing picture' and finally there is a message 'sleeping',and the result is it cannot change any picture,these are the status settings: picture information status: sleeping Image: none Effect: 11 shader: 440 Gradient: none Banner: random Tiltle: none alghought i added the images to the append directory.plz help me.
