  7. Below the menu.lst where I 've added " noapic nolapic pci=noacpi " to see if MDV 2008 can boot ! I've added these boot parameters using MDV One live but now I have to record the bootloader in MBR....I think to do a chroot to the / then with Grub command ( that I cannot understand what it is...) write on MBR the loader... With lilo was used this procedure....Can I do it with grub ? Thanks a lot. timeout 10 color black/cyan yellow/cyan gfxmenu (hd0,5)/gfxmenu default 0 title linux kernel (hd0,5)/vmlinuz BOOT_IMAGE=linux root=/dev/sda8 resume=/dev/sda7 splash=silent noapic nolapic pci=noacpi vga=788 initrd (hd0,5)/initrd.img title linux-nonfb kernel (hd0,5)/vmlinuz BOOT_IMAGE=linux-nonfb root=/dev/sda8 resume=/dev/sda7 acpi=ht initrd (hd0,5)/initrd.img title failsafe kernel (hd0,5)/vmlinuz BOOT_IMAGE=failsafe root=/dev/sda8 failsafe initrd (hd0,5)/initrd.img title windows root (hd0,0) makeactive chainloader +1

  9. Do you detail how can be done ? I don 't know grub command prompt .I see F6 that show boot options but I cannot add these options....... Many thanks
  10. I cannot install MDV 2008 ! DVD , 3 CD , MDV one ...none can install MDV on HD ! Only MDV one Live works ! It seems a bootloader problem , many kernel module fails because of EIP (0000000) . Then boot stops as I 've written before. What can I do ? :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: Many thanks.
  11. ...doesn't boot ! I've reinstalled it two times without success ! It stops boot , the log shows " Hal demon failed to start " "Alsa is executing " " mixer settings are OK " ...now the cursor is blinking.... and the boot stops... MDV ONE works..... What could be ? I've not done an .iso file checksum ....now how can I do these checks on the CD ( I've no more files on hD ) ? Thanks a lot.
  12. Thanks a lot. > It will restore/repair the MBR of windows up to XP, but not Vista,..... Is it in working MBR repair for Vista ? >Windows: >* Fix Boot of Windows >* Boot Windows >* Boot Windows on a second hard disk >* Boot Windows on a second partition Does it boot also on a USB external HD ? ( ...also for Linux...) Thanks in advance .
  13. IN >> http://users.bigpond.net.au/hermanzone/Sup...Super_Grub_Disk THESE INSTRUCTIONS >>>>> """" Select the appropriate Super Grub Menu option Super Grub Disk's English Menu has four options plus the Quit menu. The first two options are for those who like things quick and easy, Gnu/Linux is for computers with a single hard disk and just one or two operating systems when you want to boot Linux or install your Linux's GRUB boot loader to MBR. Windows is for computers with a single hard disk and just one or two operating systems when you want to boot Windows, or install your Windows's NTLDR boot loader to MBR."""" What do they mean ? ...that if I ' d stop MDV 2008 installation without doing the "bootloader step" .......I could boot MDV using SuperGrubDisk ? It would be fine !
  14. Thanks , I 've no more a floppy on my new PC , but only a CD . May be this the problem ? cannot they record on a CD ?
