  1. yup..ian is right

you have to subscribe to yahoo Premium service to get the pop account

but that not true for mail.yahoo.ca

if you have account from canada the pop mail service is free.

But why dont you use gmail account for Pop mail??? its a free account.....

If you have have an invitation, then tell me I can give you free invitation.

  2. first install the package from console

    su root

then go to directory where the rpm is downloaded.

    after that do

chmod a+x java*.rpm (or what ever the file name is)

once that is installed it will create directory /usr/java

after that I guess then best bet is to Go to Java.com and get the instructions..

Basically you have to create a soft link into Plugin directory of Firefox to the new installed java. Java.com clearly explains that.

  3. I installed cedega and installed STAR WARS Knights od old republic game with cedega.

Now when i start game using cedega Launch.exe, the game starts fine, but The video is really bad. I get no Textures in the game and its slow.

I have not tried another game, but I dont know why is it happening.

Also I Installed latest ATI Installation drivers. glxgears is around 1800 fps.

card Ati sapphire 9600 (256Mb ram).

I check in Point and Play the system Tests seems all green.

So I am not sure why I get bad output from cedega if the things are all fine???

  4. Yup..

I have only 1 HDD with 3 partitions.

    16 gb for linux

    15 gb = c:

    80 gb = d:

I just want to move Windows on new HDD which is 250 Gb and keep linux on the old hdd which is 120 Gb.

So if I move the MBR will be on new HDD then how can I reconfigure lilo to see Linux on Old HDD (120Gb) and windows on new HDD (250Gb)??

  5. ianw.

with ghost, both the partitions will be copied?? I mean i have dual boot system, so it will keep the MBR and keep the current lilo on MBR?

i think if this is posible then i can make disk to disk copy from 120 gb to 250 gb. after that remove 120 gb and replace 250 gb at its place and make it master..

so..with that in mind, will linux on new HDD work fine ( since the hardware of HDD is changed?).

  7. I think you have to Install the Microsoft Core fonts to get it running.

First of all I prefer running cedega as Root not as user. Also rpm -e the cedega version you installed and then download the Latest PointnPlay and once you have installed that, then It has option in it to Download core fonts and the Latest Cedega version from Transgaming directly...

Try that and see where you go..

  8. Thanks for the reaposne, but the 3.5mm cable is in the line of the jack for the TV card. All i hear is vey loud hissing noise. I check too that all the lines are unmuted in the 5.1 card.

It seems that 5.1 card is not configured properly as I get wierd control to control the master volume and the left right and rear speakers.

I had to adjust it manually to get the all the speakers working, but this leaves me with this toruble that they might not be properly configured.

Is there any way I can reconfigure the card settings to the original/ best settings and then work from there???

Any link for that would be greatly appreciated.

  9. I have SB Live 5.1 on my PC and also have MSI TV anywhre TV tuner card installed. I could configure the standrad TV signal and I can see the image, but I am getting Hissing sound and not being able to configure the sound output of the TV tuner card.

By Default Linux took the Happu***s drivers (x86) and i dont know how to fix this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  10. I tried installing Mandrake 10.1 Official on my ASUS K8V SE Delux, which has Gigabyte LAN Card inbuilt and has AMD 64 Processor.

For some reason It wont install with USB 2.0 option Enabled in BIOS Settings. I was just wondering if there is a way around for that.

  11. People.

I tried installing fireglx driver from Ati but for some reason i am getting the Error that i Dont have 2.6 kernel. But I checked the Mandrake I have 2.6 kernel installed and all the headers for 2.6 in ../include/modules directory.

For some reason my system is still pointing to 2.4 Kernel even though I have 2.6 running.

    Any Help please?

  12. Even after i press alt-F1 or alt-f4 it doesnot go any where. And all the CD's are fine. I perfectly installed the Mandrake earlier. I installed Yope after that...and then It kinda screwed it.

Then i installed the Mandrake again from same CD. But all in vain.

I guess the MBR is bad...but I fixed the MBR too from the Windows XP cd..and using repair option and the Doing fixMBR.

  13. Hi

    I burned the Mandrake 10.0 for i386 and for AMD 64 CD's.

When i try to install the Mandrake i386 or for AMD 64, I an not able to get the installation window, even after perfectly booting from the CD.

This is the sequence of things happening.

    1. I put the CD.

    2. Boot.

    3. It detects the CD and I get the initial screen of "F1 for more options" or "Enter to Install".

    4. Once i press "Enter to install".

    5. The Vmlinux...bla bla...comes on the screen as if its decomressing linux and doing an install.

    6. I even get the small "penguine logo" on left of the screen.

    7. after decompressing...it takes me to a screen where it says "Welcome to Mandrake 10.0 " on the Top. The screen is Blank

and on the Bottom it says "Alt-F1 for here"

    "Alt-F4 for Kernel" etc.

    8. And my Computer stays on this screen forever.

I tried this with i386 and AMD installations. They both dont work.

I do remember I did perfect installation last time. But after that I installed YOPER on my PC. Since Yoper was not detecting my Windows XP partition. SO I tried to Install Mandrake Back again. But it doesnot seems to work.

Now after that I tried installing Yoper Again and it doesnot install either.

Then i tried installing Fedora Core 2.0 and installed. ALso I am able to boot Knoppix Live CD .

    My systems is as follows:

    AMD 64 3000+

    Asus K8V se Delux

    SATA 120 GB Seagate hardisk

    ATI radeon 9600.
