Taking Ubuntu for a spin... still feels weird to be using Gnome.
If you need tips for setup eyecandy (or other things), I'll gladly help.

I just got tired of windows, so I moved to linux. I was aware that that it possible I might tinkering with it before getting it to work, but it didn't scared me as I like to fool around the things.
The first I've about linux was from an old friend back in 97 who used Linux to more shadow-ish tasks (like blackhat hacking and such), so it sparked my curiousity.

New Linux client of Second Life (Vitual World MMORPG) has been released;

This gives me some flashback about Corel Linux.

Would like to vote, but I honestly havn't tried Mandriva 2007 yet.

You can still play, but alot of the cool areas and weapon/pets/armour etc. are restricted for the nonpaying players. Special events also happens for the paying players. Usually new things are added every week (like in battleon). If you add +$5 all your characters you make in that account gets alot of Dragon coins (I think it's 1000) which are really rare coins to buy special stuff for.
One thing I look forward to is the dual part which allow you to test your character against others (which lacks in Battleon IMO).

It's still in heavy development, so there's some bugs.
About the speed. It's fast on mine (using flash 9 beta).

The good things with such games are you can web surfe meanwhile.

I don't think they have any technically thing to learn, other than maybe make it more cleared that Edgy is a Testing Platform where the Ubuntu devs could do what they want. Mark gave green light for the Ubuntu devs to play with new technology and software with Edgy to test new things and it have been stated from the start that edgy is experimental and it was stated that there's fewer hardware supported in edgy from the start.
The advise we give on Ubuntuforums to newbie is to use Dapper LTS or use edgy on their own risk.
One of the thing that will worked on in the next ubuntu release (named Feisty) where the devs talked about implementing SeLinux.

Try first with:
chmod +x j2eesdk-1_4_03-linux.bin

Quiet cool, though it still isn't as big as Battleon yet...but very promising. I just really hope they make necromancer as class character.

I just put it in both
Then you'll get double as much then the rest of us!

The theme/icon/wallpaper part will get changed big time in next release as the want to use their strengths on my vitals things this time (consider that they only had 4 months to do this release ready)....and themes are also about personal taste in the end. :)
If you look at what you get for 4 months development it's quiet impressive in my humble opinion. Now they are back on having the 6 months to do the next release.

ah, okay
Somehow it just seems weird that there's two places to put the command. But there might be a logical reason for it.

There's some annoying bugs in beryl 0.1.1 if you are a gamer (Like hard freeze when exiting a game), but it's easely ivercome if you choose to another engine (eg. metacity, kwin etc.) before gaming and then switch it back on when done gaming.
Shouldn't Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True" be under Section "Screen" ?

Just a reminder 6.10 is most under the hood changes. The next release alot of interface and eyecandy will be added.

Here's a screenshot with Nvidia 9xxx + beryl, as you see it use both a config manager and theme manager.
Edit: forgot the link :P
Edit: Edit: somethings wrong with my image hoster, so I'll attach it instead.

What about XGL\AIGLX and Beryl\Compiz? No word about them in the release notes. Is it as easy to install and configure them as in Mandriva?
It's quiet easy to install, I've done it in less than 5 min. (mostly because I downloaded the 9xxx Nvidia driver).
There's a howtos here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=272104
For Nividia 9xxx driver + beryl + edgy = http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=263851
You get directly plugged into beryl, the beryl developer are running an ubuntu source list so it's a no-brainer. Then add two lines in the xorg.conf and you're running.

Since some despute about some license issue between Debian and Firefox, Debian have renamed Firefox to IceWeasel, since then there have been alot of suggestions on how the icon/image should look alike.
Take a look: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IceWeaselIcon
Personally I'll go for Shadowkeeper's suggestion :D

Easy enough:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=272104
if you have nvidia and want also the latest driver: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=263851
under step 2 go for option 2 because the 9xxx have gone stable.
