Regarding source codes:
Great idea. The source code is available in bazaar on Launchpad and *should* compile for other distros. However, I'll put some work into testing it to make sure it does.Like you said, the plugins are currently very Ubuntu-centric. I guess the intention is to start with a focused target audience, although I agree that more generic stuff may have a wider appeal. A job for the future.

Not yet . Properly later. Also X, Y, Z distro need to build a plugin with their logo (or something else) as it's only Ubuntu (and diviants) screensavers atm.
I think a glass Arch Linux logo that slowly spinning would look cool.

Eternity
The guy behind Ubuntu Satanic has made a new screensaver for Linux called Eternity. It works both for Gnome, KDE and Xscreensaver.

Well the menu thing is a personal preference I guess, looking forward to see the new one.

Looking great! I diffently going to try it *shows his silver star member card*
By the way, how well is the 64 bit version of Mandriva? I'm asking because I'm going to invest in a brand new 64bit PC.
I see there have been some work on Rpmdrake (in the release notes) which is really great (one of my beef with mandriva earlier).
Also hope Mandriva "clean up" the menu or put it better together :)

I think there's a script installer file also.

I have thought of Xubuntu and haven't ruled that out yet. BTW how easy is the package installation in *ubuntu systems? I guess they are as plentyful as Mandriva's repos?
Quite easy. You have Synaptic Package Manager for gui, and you have apt-get/aptitude for commandline. If you setup the sourcelist correct you'll have over 22000 applications/libs available. Also there's alot of unofficial sources you can set up if you like. A good place to start to setup the sourcelist is; http://www.ubuntu-nl.org/source-o-matic/
You can set it up by gui, but easier by command if you know how (or I can help you if needed).
Linux game companies have started to make their games available so you can put them into your sourcelist (but usually these games require more horsepower than your system.
Examples;
Astromenace and other viewizard games; http://www.viewizard.com/astromenace/index_linux.php
Defcon and other introversion games;
echo 'deb http://download.introversion.co.uk/defcon/linux/contrib/ubuntu-feisty/ feisty main' | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list sudo wget http://download.introversion.co.uk/defcon/linux/contrib/ubuntu-feisty/introversion-packages-slimg-key.gpg -P /tmp sudo apt-key add /tmp/introversion-packages-slimg-key.gpg sudo aptitude update sudo aptitude install defcon
(can also be done by gui).

I would recommend Ubuntu, even though you don't like it. It's quick and easy.
Elive is another recommendation. It's E17 Debian Etch build. While it may be a little difficult (way diffrent interface) it works very well. Also you can choose Nvidia driver from the live distro out of the box. But it's a bit slow on boot-up.

Why'o why still mandriva still bloat the menus :D

By Cedega ( http://www.transgaming.com/ ), plug in the CD, start up cedega and press the install button.
click to enlarge
Then press the "Detect Game" and fill in the other info. Press continue thereafter and you're rolling.
Note: Cedega aren't free, it cost $5 per month. You pay for 3 months first, then every month. You can unsubscribe after the 3 months and still use Cedega but you'll will not recieve upgrades and updates.

By Wine or Cedega?

Yep-- fullscreen hardware acceleration during video playback using OpenGL/GLX on Linux, where available... and functional. If you find that it does not work right, you can disable hardware acceleration using the "Settings..." menu from the right-click context menu. Oh, and file a bug with hardware details, video card driver version, GLX version, that sort of stuff.

All about it, how I'll take CK ((compiled Kernel) another Ubuntu staff member) on Ubuntuforums in a Death-match in Wesnoth. It's gonna be bloody. I'm known to be a schwarzkopf in Strategy games.

Here's something I've used through the years;
Dark tech theme - One of the first wallpaper I used on Ubuntu Warty beta.
Dark futuristic theme - also one of the first wallpaper I used on Ubuntu Warty beta.
November Theme - Very nice wallpaper, it makes people think, Fit nicely with Beryl water drop effect :D
Norse Theme - Odins two ravens Huginn and Muninn (thought and memory) - As a Norse pagan this wallpaper have been priceless for me :)
White Glass Theme - When I was experimenting with KDE (Gnome rulez!!11) I was using this wallpaper which seems to fit nicely with the icons and stuff that are available for KDE.
I'll look for more on my backup CD's and see what I can come up with.
I'll see if and vamperic will show up.... :D

Which style, colour and theme are you looking for?
EVE-Online Linux Client testing
in Portal News
Posted
EVE-Online Linux Client is now in testing phase. Cedega subscribers have the pleasure to test out the new Linux Client and should have received an email from CCP (the company behind EVE-Online). Moreover a lot of different linux packages are available and will benefit the linux community as whole: generic RPM - generic TGZ - generic DEB - Mandriva RPM - SUSE RPM.
