  1. what if you get error message 'error occured downloading https://localhost:10000' and DNS error message accessing https://ipaddress:10000 from other terminals on network? urpmi webmin returns 'already installed' - using 9.1
  2. i figured as a newbie I would use my 9.1 version for now. It installed ok. I've just been stumped so far as to how to put icons on my gnome desktop for my CD and Floppy. setup two drives, a 3.5 with 1 gig for /home and a 2nd drive with /var at 8 Gigs. This is proper for something that's mainly for webserver with only a few users?
  3. sorry i never really replied, just whined. Wanting to setup webserver w php mysql to learn more about those. I chose from the install list http server, ftp server and database server. When the install completed, ftp wasn't started and mysql wasn't installed at all. I sort of expected some tools to set these up accesible from kde, but couldn't find anything. Found the mcc and tried to install mysql but got missing file errors... last time i found time to try learning some linux was with mdk6, many things have changed and been renamed.
  4. I did end up using cd2 for the install, but that can't possibly be the installer meant for release. I've installed 8 & 9 before and there was a nice install gui with simple steps to follow. spare you the rest of the setup ordeal for now, but i was expecting that with each release installation would be easier. Should i use 9.2 instead?
  5. I can't get mdk10 to install from cd1, tried two different systems. If I run it from windows, it says it's rebooting to start install then fails and restarts windows... If I start with a new blank HD it fails to boot from CD and halts. I know you can use cd2, but the install interface is really lame and it didn't install half the things I selected. I also had a hell of a time with a plain old ATI Mach64 and a PNP monitor, had to change to an s3 and ignore the error messages. I would really like to use the proper install process..
