As far as I know, even different version of microsoft office software is not 100% compatible with each other.
My thoughts exactly.
I look at it as " Is MS Office compatible with OOo? "
"is the glass half full or half empty"
I use OOo at home and at work. Only at uni am i stuck with using MS Office. Therefore i wouldnt do much of my office based work at uni; start it but get the bulk of it and ready for printing at home or at work.
Having said that i have never had any kind of document made in M$ office open incorrently in OOo.
In my experience, OOo is the front runner for office apps with its PDF exporting. cross platform useage etc and M$ office is a second alternative application.

i use the onboard nForce2 sound
i was going to try the line in port next time i give it a go.
I know theres still some troubles with NF2 boards and sound (lack of sound storm drivers)
Could this be my problem ??
Another problem i have, which might be related is that even with ALSA, only one device can use the sound card at a time
eg if i am playing music and Gaim beeps up, it cuts the music at the end of the song and plays back all queued up Gaim message beeps.

So in other words its impossible to have sound under Linux??
I have the sound cable plugging into the internal AUX port on my MoBo. One would think its just a matter of unmuting the AUX line, but no cigar on that one :(

That IS the kernel module for your TV card. You need to download, build, and install it.
Thats a great response there kuchwas
It does say that these modules come with the 2.6.x kernals.
I am trying with mdk10.0 and a PixelView PlayTV HD that uses the CX23881 chipset.
i got a (bad) picture after doing
modprobe cx88xx
The picture was running with "gradbdisplay" and no overlay (and no sound.)
any suggestions ??
replies much appreciated

I followed those steps for an 8500 and still nothing :(
After doing those steps link in fact, i only had 3-4 lines of output from fglrxinfo just saying its using Mesa software rendering etc.
I pulled the fglrx rpm out and used default but nothing :(
Any other ideas ??
