So that has to be set up before I do the Mandrake Update?

I've heard and seen people run linux on the xbox but dont get xbox live. I've heard of quite a few people lose their linux cuz microsoft came in through their connection and deleted it.

Oh, come on, I have it on 4 systems now Slackware & Gentoo, you can get it on 1. :D just untar/zip the kernel rm linux ln -s /usr/src/linux-2.6.5 linux cp <youroldconfig> /usr/src/linux make oldconfig <answer the questions> make make modules_install cp arch/boot/bzImage /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.5 cp System.map /boot/System.map-2.6.5 cp .config /boot/config-2.6.5 edit lilo/grub reboot That's my how-to for 12 step program. Thanks guys. Just one more question, is there anything else I should know or do in addition to setting up a firewall to protect myself? I'm quite worried about being hacked.

(I'm sorry if there is something already in place about this so I apologize in advance.) I'm a complete n00b to linux and I want to know what to do about getting a firewall in place. I'm using 9.2 and I dont know what to do about which firewall to use. It would be nice if there is something for linux thats similar to Zonealarm (which I use for windows right now). My connection is a DSL connection. TIA.
