  1. I have a wireless router in the basement - D-Link 614+ - and a computer upstairs in my house with a wireless card - D-Link 520+ PCI - in a WIN2000 computer, with internet connection sharing enabled; through a second PCI Lan card - which is in turn cabled into a hub. DHCP is setup on this computer - and works when connection Win machines - have tried many times! Nowing Mandrake 10; on a PIII 700 Cel.; with a D-Link 530TX v D2 Lan card - install finds and setups the card...but it doesn't connect to the network/Internet? How would I go about finding out why? Has anyone tried doing this in the past? I did try one thing: forcing IP/DNS/Subnet; and pinging from the WIN2000 machine, but it didn't find the Linux box...Help!!! Note: on Boot: "Bringing up interface eth0" fails!
  2. I've successfully loaded icewm - but have no idea what to do next!!! Should I try KDE? how do I do what apolinaras says? disable sgi_fam? what's xinetd and how do I get to it? What's webmin? How do I get it?
  3. Do you know if the D-Link 520+ wireless Lan card works with Linux 10? Also, how do I do the updates? Is there a how to somewhere that I can read to get a brief overview? Thanks.
  4. Zip drive isn't connected - keyboard and mouse are USB - going through a powered USB Hub. I've left the KDE thing for an hour...and nothing. Haven't tried icewm...will try that next...have to reinstall...or is there a way to change it once already installed? I'm completely new to Linux...though I did use Unix in university...was a few years ago though... Anyways...I'll report back once I get it installed and I'll try icewm. Thanks.
  5. I'm attempting to install onto a PIII 700 Celeron; 13 GB HD; CD; 256 SDRam; TNT2 video. I've tried installing 4 times - and it seems to get through the install fine; even the initial user setup - and default screen loads up. With KDE, is says its loaded...but hangs at 85% - only key combination that I've had work is Ctrl-Sys Rq-B which boots and brings me right back to 85% and hang. When I tried Gnome, first try got a white bar at the top; and the rest of the screen was blue, second time I got the white bar at the top and bottom; blue in the middle...no icons, menus, buttons, nothing; again only the reboot key combo works. Any ideas? I'm temped to try Redhat 9.2 and see if that works any better... Thanks in advance...
  6. Funny...I'm getting the same thing...tried multiple installs...with many different options...nothing worked to get into KDE... I'm now trying Gnome...but it doesn't appear to be working either...I've got a mouse cousor that I can move aroung...a white bar at the top; the rest of the screen is blue....no text anywhere...and not really sure what else to try...help!!!
