  1. I just built a new computer and had the same problem. Mine is a more modest AMD XP 2900+ on a Dragon board with a VIA chipset. Like I said, completely different setup. Still, what I did that fixed it was to go into Mandrake Control Center | Boot | Boot loader and check "Force no APIC". I have no idea why that works. The only reason I tried it was I Googled around and found someone else who had that problem. I would love to know why they knew to try it. After restarting my machine my ethernet and my SB Live! card worked. I hope it works for you as well.
  2. I am sure it is me, but I can make no sense of qa.mandrake.com so that I can post or check bugs. I want to report or vote on a bug that makes a HP PSC 1200/1350 or similar printer unusable. The printer worked correctly in 9.2 but just ejects garbage in 10CE. From a posting here I learned that by installing the 2.4 kernel (or other trick - thank you VeeDubb) you can get the printer working. Rather than a trick I would like to get the bug out. Has anyone written a step by step instruction or example for using qa.mandrake.com? When I go there I am generally just confused. My searches suggest that the bug is not currently being tracked but then again I am not sure I am using the bug search correctly. On the other hand, I am the sort of person who is easily confused by a phone book. I am constantly looking up "car repair" when what I really want is "automotive maintenance". Also, "Zarro Boogs found." is not a helpful answer for an inquiry. I am confused enough by linux half the time. After doing two or three searches I finally was sure they meant "no bugs reported" but until then I wasn't sure if it was a "foo" type thing.
  3. VeeDubb, I have no idea how you figured your way around that! Well, I cannot wait to try it. As to the multicard reader in the HP PSC 1350, it mostly works. In 10CE, it no longer automatically mounts the card upon insertion, but that is OK. I never could get the thing unmounted as Mandrake had it set to automount as root. I have not found the card reader stable or fast for large amounts of data. I use a 512MB compact flash instead of taking my computer home at night. If I try to transfer large amounts of data with the HP card reader it usually hangs. This might be because my linux box is using USB 1.1, but in any case I normally use a PNY card reader instead. I have NO problems with that.
  4. For the record, I had the exact same problem with a PSC 1350. By going to the 2.4 kernel as VeeDubb described, I have the printer working again (it worked just fine in 9.2). Thank you VeeDubb for sticking with it and finding a fix. Clearly this is a bug, but I cannot find any entry on qa.mandrake.com that covers it. As I cannot figure out how to post one myself, can someone post this bug or talk me through how to properly post this bug?
