From Webopedia
Short for Display Power Management Signaling, a VESA interface standard that defines four power management modes for monitors in idle state: on, stand-by, suspend and off. Using DPMS, the display controller (typically the video card or chip from which the monitor receives signals) sends a signal along two signal lines – horizontal sync (h-sync) and vertical sync (v-sync) -- to the monitor, instructing it to enter into one of the four power management states.I have it disabled but didnt notice much if any performance boost.

Is there a control panel for nvidia board like the windows one?
-
I dont think you can even do it with windows.
-
VERY nice! Thank you.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040519 Firefox/0.8.0+ (MozJF)
Seems nice and peppy for me.

I had the same problem. What I did to solve it was set "onboot" to no in my /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 file.
So it looks like this:
DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
ONBOOT=no
WIRELESS_ENC_KEY=""

kernel-source-2.4.22-30mdk.i586.rpm will install the kernel source in your /usr/src directory, ready for you to compile.
kernel-2.4.22.30mdk-1-1mdk.src.rpm if I'm not mistaken, will produce an rpm similar to kernel-source-2.4.22-30mdk.i586.rpm (depending on which if any complile flags you use) which you will then have to install.
In other words, wait for a more experienced user to explain lol.

Well anyway... the partition type in which your /boot directory resides should never be compiled as a module. The kernel wont boot because the harddrives are initialised before the modules are loaded so therefore obviously your kernel wont find the drives.
-
So you have just one partition, its reiserfs and you compiled it as a module?
-
I've always made reiserfs a module with no prob.
Your boot partition must not be reiserfs then.
-
If you're using reiserfs make sure you've compiled it into the kernel, not as a module.

AMD. More bang for the buck.

I could help spread the word but it's just too far for me up in Maine... maybe if I can time my vacation right. Sounds like a great idea and alot of fun though.

You need MORE than 512 RAM for a GAME!?
This isnt tuxracer or frozen bubbles I'm talking about here lol. 2k4 will run on 256, but MUCH better with 512 or more.
-
Not sure why most people would need more than 512 RAM on a Linux box.
Unreal Tournament 2k4.

ke the installer to attempt to download a kernel interface for your kernel f
rom the NVIDIA ftp site (ftp://download.nvidia.com)? (Answer: Yes)
So I answer yes and it just sits there.
Hit "no". It should then build it for you.

I never cared for the brushed look, but it seems to me I've seen similar metacity/gtk themes around. I'll keep my eyes open.
-
Yep. It's by far my favorite too.

Well, they probably make more profit on your club membership so that would be best for them. But with the boxed set you get the nice manual, some support, and a trial membership.

I've been downloading at around 180kbs (about max on my dsl) for the last hour or so. The more people using it the faster it is. Shouldnt really make much difference which client you're using. Bittorrent is Bittorrent.
-
and if that's what it takes for bt to be good....no wonder it stinks
Indeed. People who DON'T use it should NOT complain because THEY are the reason it "stinks".
-
bittorent is a joke
Well, bittorrent is only as good as the people using it. The more people using it, the better and faster it is.

In related news mandrakeclub.com seems to be down lol.
