  1. Thankyou for the help. I found a few programs that claim to recover data from flash cards, theres quite a few. I'm looking for a linux one though, anyone know of any?
  2. Hi I took some video footage using a digital camera, and it was stored on a 128MB memory card. I later let someone view the footage, but somehow they managed to delete it. There is no way I can retake this video, so I need to recover the files. I have no idea where to start, please, can someone help me.
  3. And I tried running it with opera and firefox.
  4. Well, I'd noticed it with java applets in other sites, but I didn't really care. However, I wanted to play runescape, and there's no sound.
  5. Hi I've been having problems with java, there's no sound. There is sound in other apps, flash included, just not java. Please could someone help me get it working.
  6. See that's the thing, I did try a 2.6 kernel when I was using Mandrake 9.1, I compiled it, but the mouse didn't work, I'm not sure if it's the same issue, I haven't compiled one with Mandrake 10 yet. This leads me to think that it might be some kernel problem. Anyway, when I get some free time, I'll compile one and see if my mouse works. Oh yeah, thanks to everyone for all the replies.
  7. I think it's a motherboard incompatibility problem. Coz, it works with the 2.6 kernel if I unplug the keyboard, plug it back in, unplug the mouse and plug it back in.
  8. Just an update-- I'm now using kernel -2.4.22-32 and the compatibility sems excellent.
  9. Hi all I've got problems with both kernels and I'm looking for an alternative version are there any upcoming fixes? Problems with kernel 2.4.25: Problems using certain windows components. e.g I can't play most wmvs and asfs and it freezes the process table when try to play them, same with wine and cossover office. I also can't read some cds that have been burnt. Problem with kernel 2.6 The mouse doesn't work. It's a ps2 infrared, it just doesn't move. Is there an alternative 2.4 kernel that I can use? Since I heard that the issues ae fixed with older 2.4 kernels, but from which version did these problems arise? And which would be the most compatible with mandrake 10? Any help at all will be a great help. Thanks [moved from Software by spinynorman]
  10. Okay then, seems there haven't been many views, any suggestions on a better subject?
  11. I have had some strange behaviour with certain win32 components. Wine(Also crossover office) - does not run anything. mplayer - playing most wmv and asf files cause this problem. This is on Mandrake 10 official, on the 2.4.25 kernel. It is not a problem on the 2.6 kernel. Any suggestions.
  12. I found a nother workaround for the mouse issue. Just use the 2.4 kernel.
  13. It says I don't have permission. I was root when I ran it.
  14. Okay, I tried that installation command and the terminal output is: [root@localhost RPMS]# rpm -ivh --replacefiles --replacepkgs libpcap0-0.7.2-1mdk.i586.rpm Preparing... ########################################### [100%] 1:libpcap0 error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/lib/libpcap.so.0: cpio: rename failed - Permission denied
  15. I will try the rpm commands when I reboot into linux, is there anything else that I could try(before I reboot)?
  16. Yes I think it uninstalled everything except for the symlink.
  17. Today I tried to connect with kppp and it said unable to load libpcap.so.0. I tried to delete it but it tells me that I don't have permission to delete it,even if I am root! It seems as if it is supposed to be a link because in the rpm it is. In konqueror the file doesn't show but in Midnight Commander it shows but the entry is red. It says that it isn't a link. It seems as if it's corrupted, the date of the file is 1970! I did some investigating and in an attempt to fix it tried to uninstall the libcap package which includes the library. When I tried to install it, it refuses. So my question is, how do I delete this file? Maybe it would it invovle accessing the partitions raw contents? Please tell me all and any suggestions in as few posts as possible because I'm posting this message in windows because I can't connect(kppp doesn't work). Thanks to all in advance.
