No the device isn't working. I got USB view and it shows up, I have dev/usb but no HID. Sorry it's taking so long to respond, I'm traveling across country right now, so I can't get on till I can find a connection to steal. Anyways if it shows up in usbview then that means its being recognized right? How do I get HID to work and what the hell is it, guess I'll run a google and find out. Thanks for any help!

I just bought a retropad plug and play controller for my snes emulator from here: http://sealiecomputing.com/retrozone/ When I plug it in it shows up in harddrake as other with all the correct info but with no module, but I shouldnt need one? It's USB HID? I'm not sure what the hell that is? I'm running Mandrake 9.2 on a IBM thinkpad 600X. Basically what do I need to do to get my USB HID working properly? Thanks for any advice! :-?

I've got another question thats sorta similiar, I've recently installed rox filer(which kicks ass!) and have to tell it which apps to use for which files. The problem I'm having is with rpm packages. It recognizes them as rpms but needs a a set app or command. I can't seem to figure out what app actually installs rpms. Once I can get this working I'll be down to only two file managers, each one serving it's own purpose. If you have any clue on how to solve this problem It'd be much appreciated. B)

That doesn't work because you have to type ./azureus to launch it, why is that anyways? I tried adding "{~/programs/azureus/./azureus}" and "{~/programs/azureus/azureus}" to the menu but niether seem to work?

Not quite sure I follow you. I use flux menu which I edit with nedit. If you could explain it like you're talking to a 2 year old I would be very much grateful!

I downloaded and installed Azureus which works great. But everytime I want to open it I have to "cd /path/of/azureus" then run "./azureus". Doing all of that is really annoying, so I was wondering if anyone knew how I could create a shortcut in my menu. By the way I'm using Fluxbox.

I'm using rox filer and I need to know what program installs rpms by default. Yu have to tell rox which program to use for every kind of file, and for rpms I dont know what to put. I know in CLI you type "rpm -v 'name of package'" and in konqueror it automaticaly does it for you when you double click. So what program actually installs rpms?

I give up! I really appreciate all the help everyones givin' me, but I've decided to delete Mandrake 9.2 and replace with another distro. Besides the sound problem my KDE menu kept crashing and the last time it wouldn't come back. Konqeror quit working properly i.e.: It wouldn't let me download or open browser in nwe windows wierd stuff like that. All that tho I'm sure could of been solved easy enough. But too many things to mess with, so I think I'll try SuSE 9 Pro next. I've heard its a really good distro for newbies. Well thanks again! :D

Little help going crazy! Can't be my drivers right? Because I get sound when I play cds with the default cd player, although its really low.

According to urpmi alsa and aumix are installed. I tried running aumix from konsole but nothing happens. When I try running aumix from K>Multimedia>Sound>aumix the window shows in the bottom like its trying to load but nothing happens. When I try and open AlsaMixerGUI I get this error message "alsamixer:function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such file or directory" and alsa-utils are installed. Oh and I don't know what CLI is?

O.K. I get sound(low) when I play an audio cd, but when I play a DVD in xine nothing. I tried going into kmix to fix the problem and theres no available mixers? I tried aumix, wont open. So I went into drakeconf soundcard run config, but it wont open. Apparently I dont have a dsp module I need in /dev/? Also when I open drankconf and go to hardware sometimes my mouse freezes up, and I only mention this because this is my 2nd time to type this because of that. Anyways any help on the audio problem would be most helpful.
