  1. argh... i just got my mx700 side buttons to work in mozilla and konqueror but they don't work in firefox... when i hit "back" or "forward" which worked just fine in the other browser, the page in firefox just jumps back to its beginning...
  2. right now, i'm having troubles with installing a newer version of mplayerplug-in. see my post: http://www.mandrakeusers.org/index.php?showtopic=11498
  3. to be honest, i don't figure out, how to install it in mandrake 9.2... shame on me...
  4. when following the readme i have to execute ./config in the mplayerplug-in directory. when i do this i get the following output: [ralph@localhost mplayerplug-in]$ ./configure checking for g++... no checking for c++... no checking for gpp... no checking for aCC... no checking for CC... no checking for cxx... no checking for cc++... no checking for cl... no checking for FCC... no checking for KCC... no checking for RCC... no checking for xlC_r... no checking for xlC... no checking for C++ compiler default output... configure: error: C++ compiler cannot create executables See `config.log' for more details. any ideas, what i have to do?
  5. i installed mozilla 1.6 and it has absolutely ugly - i think no antialiased fonts. how do i get antialiased fonts like in the rest of mandrake 9.2?
  6. i'll give it a try and tell you afterwards... just if you have time: what do you mean by "graphically logging..."? i think for a newbie it's a lot easier to learn from someone experienced than just reading and searching... ...works fine with mozilla... don't know how to install firefox /-bird or thunderbird... (yet)
  7. thank you so much, everything works now... the file wasn't executable. i just remapped 67 with 76 to my comfort and all works just fine now... and you said in mozilla (and firebird/fox?) it doesn't??? just one more question: which .imwheelrc is the one that is really needed: /home/ralph or /root ?
  8. added -p to mousexmodmap. wheel down / up is now "back" and "forward", and buttons do 1 back / 1 forward in text or icons... here my mousexmodmap: #!/bin/sh killall /usr/bin/imwheel xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5" imwheel -p -k -b "67" everything works when: ralph@localhost ralph]$ killall /usr/bin/imwheel [ralph@localhost ralph]$ imwheel -p -k -b "67" WARNING: imwheel process could not be verified, it may not be running anymore, that's OK! : No such file or directory WARNING: imwheel pid file could not be removed. Perhaps you want the -p option. Or SUID root the imwheel executable... : Operation not permitted WARNING: imwheel is not checking/writing a pid file, BE CAREFUL! An imwheel may be running already. Two or more imwheel processes on the same X display, or simultaneously using a wheel fifo, will not operate as expected! INFO: imwheel started (pid=2364) [ralph@localhost ralph]$
  9. yes it works now. i get those messages i already postet, but everything works fine. ...but not on startup so far...
  10. how long does your startup of mandrake move take? i've been sitting and watching and hitting some keys inbetween, but 15 minutes later still no desktop... is a usb stick explicitly needed or just optional?
  11. when trying to install pixieplus-0.5.4-5mdk.i586 i get the following message: "the following packages cannot be selected: pixieplus-0.5.3-5mdk.i586 (due to unsatisfied libMagick-5.5.4.so.0" however, libMagick-5.5.7.13-3plf is installed... what can i do to get pixieplus installed?
  12. @!nkubus: which version is it? mine is mplayerplugin-0.80-1mdk and the codec is win32-codecs-1.4-2plf
  13. If you do: ll /usr/bin/imwheel: [ralph@localhost ralph]$ ll /usr/bin/imwheel -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 52216 Jul 23 2003 /usr/bin/imwheel* [ralph@localhost ralph]$ can you do, as root: killall imwheel [root@localhost ralph]# killall imwheel [root@localhost ralph]# and then, as user ralph: imwheel -k -b "67" [ralph@localhost ralph]$ imwheel -k -b "67" WARNING: imwheel process could not be verified, it may not be running anymore, that's OK! : No such file or directory WARNING: imwheel pid file could not be removed. Perhaps you want the -p option. Or SUID root the imwheel executable... : Operation not permitted ERROR: Couldn't write pid to pid file Perhaps you want the -p option to avoid this... Otherwise you may SUID root the imwheel executable. : Permission denied [ralph@localhost ralph]$ you may also try : imwheel -p -k -b "67" [ralph@localhost ralph]$ imwheel -p -k -b "67" WARNING: imwheel process could not be verified, it may not be running anymore, that's OK! : No such file or directory WARNING: imwheel pid file could not be removed. 14. ok, i still don't know what you exactly mean to become "root" (pleas tell me like talking to a child - maybe that helps), but i figured something else out. in my /root/ i made another .imwheelrc with the modifications. when i then put in your commands everything works fine: scrolling and buttons. but how do i correct things, that i have all the candy from startup? when i do it as user: [ralph@localhost ralph]$ imwheel -k -b "67" WARNING: imwheel process could not be verified, it may not be running anymore, that's OK! : Permission denied [ralph@localhost ralph]$ as user i only get the wheel to work and when i do it as root: root@localhost ralph]# imwheel -k -b "67" WARNING: imwheel process could not be verified, it may not be running anymore, that's OK! : No such file or directory INFO: imwheel started (pid=3954) [root@localhost ralph]# as root everything (buttons and wheel work)
  15. how exactly do i do that? open the console, switch to root with su, killall /usr/lib/imwheel, open new console as ralph do the rest? if thats true, then after xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5" the wheel works, but not the buttons. and after imwheel -k -b "67" (as ralph) i get the following output: [root@localhost ralph]# imwheel -k -b "67" WARNING: imwheel process could not be verified, it may not be running anymore, that's OK! : No such file or directory INFO: imwheel started (pid=2627) /root/.imwheelrc: No such file or directory [root@localhost ralph]# i hope and i guess it's getting warmer and thanx for patience...
  16. i installed mplayer plf, win32codecs plf and the plugin. when i go to a quicktime site now, i get a grey windows and for a brief moment i writes mplayer-plugin the to left corner, but the window where the movie should be stays grey and nothing more happens...
  17. [ralph@localhost ralph]$ killall /usr/bin/imwheel [ralph@localhost ralph]$ xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5" // scrollwheel works now [ralph@localhost ralph]$ imwheel -k -b "67" WARNING: imwheel process could not be verified, it may not be running anymore, that's OK! : Permission denied [ralph@localhost ralph]$ when trying killall /usr/bin/imwheel again: [ralph@localhost ralph]$ killall /usr/bin/imwheel /usr/bin/imwheel: Kein Prozess abgebrochen (means "no process killed" or something likewise [ralph@localhost ralph]$ when trying imwheel -k -b "67" as root: [root@localhost ralph]# imwheel -k -b "67" WARNING: imwheel process could not be verified, it may not be running anymore, that's OK! : No such file or directory INFO: imwheel started (pid=2399) /root/.imwheelrc: No such file or directory [root@localhost ralph]#
  18. @arTee: when i run xmodmap -pp all seven buttons are found. the .imwheelrc is in /home/ralph/ (my username) and another imwhreelrc (without . at the beginning) is in /etc/X11/ - i left that one unchanged. the mouesexmap (file with a shell symbol) is in /home/ralph/.kde/Autostart/ however when i start mandrake 9.2 the wheel doesn't scroll. instead up and down (wheel) works as back and forward in konqueror (web) and the side buttons do nothing. in konqueror (filebrowsing) the wheel and thumb buttons manouvers left and right between files. so the buttons actually work, but they don't do what they are supposed to do. my files: .imwheelrc ".*" None, Down, Alt_L|Left None, Up, Alt_L|Right mousexmodmap #!/bin/sh killall /usr/bin/imwheel xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5" imwheel -k -b "67" XF86Config-4 Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Mouse1" Driver "mouse" Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2" Option "Device" "/dev/usbmouse" Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7" Option "Buttons" "7" EndSection XF86Config Section "Pointer" Protocol "IMPS/2" Device "/dev/usbmouse" ZAxisMapping 4 5 EndSection
  19. i use konqueror for webbrowsing since the fonts are much better on a tft than mozillas. i also installed kmplayer and mplayer to watch quicktime movies on the web (e.g. quicktime.com) but i get nothing but a black movie window in the browser and it doesn't start to play... any ideas how i can change this?
  20. i tried out nearly everything so far, but i can't get this mouse to work correctly. all i want is to map my two sides buttons with "back" and "forward" commands for konqueror and use my scroll wheel like it is supposed to be. i'm completely new to mandrake and maybe someone can give me a step by step instruction what to do exactly.
