  1. Hey guys;

    This is a quick one, does anyone know where they are hiding the SMP kernel for the new Beta 2 of MDL 10.1 ? It is not located on CD, so they must be storing it online some where, but does anyone know where they are hiding it ?

    I see to that they have changed the layout a bit between 10 and 10.1. Thanks for you help on this one.

  2. Problem solved. I have the UK English version, once I got the right installer version straightened out, then game now installs fine. The game is also displayed in the Loki update and uninstaller :)

  3. Well I gave the installer a shot, it got so far then crapped out at the final stage, complaining it could not find Disc 1. Yes I did the umount, mount, and export commands before loading and unloading each CD. Which worked up till the final stage of the installation. This is so weird. Using the Tux installer works, but then I have not way of updating the game other than manually.

  4. I am setting my config to load on startup. I had the same problem with my new card too. I had to many kernel sources kicking around when I when to the 2.6.7smp kernel. I could not install the driver anymore and basically had to reinstall my entire MDL box. It just would not install anymore.

  5. The game itself doesn't use a cdkey, but is required when installing in Windows.

    What patches/updates are you talking about?

    Any new patches that come out. I didn't notice any updater utitlity like there is with UT2003 or Savage ... etc. I think the game is already up to 1.14 in Windows for patches. I coould not find out in Linux how to get the current version that it is running at.

  6. Hey all;

    :help:

    I finallly got the Retail Version of Mohaa (Linux Native) in the mail, but I am confused as to when or where the CDKey goes ?? I was not prompted during the installlation. Does anyone know where it goes ?

    Secondly, does anyone know where we get the patches and updates for this one. The docs were horrible for this game. Cheers.

  7. I just downloaded and installed the 2.6.7 smp kernel and sources., removed all of the other older kerenls and source packages from my computer, rebooted to get the new kernel to take effect, and I am still getting the same error. I am totally stumped on this one. I have pretty much tried everything the README says, all the forum suggestions I could find related to the NVIDIA drivers. I have never run into

    such a stubborn problem such as this. Perhaps I should just do a clean install right from scratch ?

  8. Okay, I did manage to finally get X working by commenting out the "ServerLayout" sections at the bottom of the XF86Config-4 file.

    When I try to install either of the drivers (PNY and NVidia latest) I keep running into this error;

    "ERROR: Unable to deternine the NVidia kernel module filename"

    Yes I read the README and Yes I checked the other forums. I added the nvidia lines to the /etc/modules.conf and /etc/modules.defvs files, but this didn't do anything either for me.

    I have 2 different kernel sources in the /usr/src directory, and I am attempting to compile the driver against the "kernel-2.6.3-9mdk" source with the following installation options at run level 3;

    sh NVidiadriverversionblah blah .bin --kernel=2.6.3-9mdksmp --kernel -source-path=/usr/src/linux

    It starts to install just fine then errors out with the above error. Below in the install log. Pretty much all I have at this point. Can't get the drivers to install far enough to get more informtion than that.

  9. The QuadroFX range of video cards are pretty much GeforceFX boards (same NV3x core, different settings enabled). The Quadro should run "as" GFFX without too many problems, you're missing out on Genlock support and application-specific driver optimisations for Maya, Softimage, 3dsmax and the like, that's about it.

    Download the NVIDIA drivers from www.nvidia.com and install them from the command line (no X running or the installation routine will complain). That should do the job; the drivers should also recognise your Quadro properly as, well, a Quadro board with all the bells and whistles enabled.

    93,

    -Sascha.rb

    Yeah I pretty much did that. It is erroring out when I try to install them, and yes the kernel source is installed for all the various kernels I boot. You can see them in /usr/src. I will post the error output that I get once I boot back over to linux.

  10. Hey all, long time no post :)

    Here is my situation. I recently swapped my G4 Ti 4600 for a NVidia Quadro FX

    1100, here are the specs;

    NVIDIA Quadro FX 1100 by PNY

    As you can see, it is quite a nice video card, so I really just don't want to give up my attempts at getting the card running in Mandrake 10, and go back to using my G4. My goal is to get 2 monitors running using this NVQuardroFX.

    The problem I am having is that when I take out my G4, and reboot with the new card inserted, Kaduzu and Drakconf detect the hardware changes, but try to install the card as a Geforce FX. When I even try to attempt to setup the new video card, it keeps erroring out when I try to test the configuration.

    They have linux drivers based on the latest Nvidia installers, but I can't seem to

    get into X far enough to install the drivers.

    I have done some searching on the Google/Mandrake forums, NVidia Linux forums, and these forums. What I did find was very limited, and or didn't work. Is anyone one else on the forum using this type of video card ? Does anyone have any other suggestions I can try ? Thanks.

  11. I played around with Steam and WineX 3.3 for about 3 months...

    that's interesting, considering winex 3.3 hasn't even been out for two months

    ;)

    according to the march 18th status report, support for steam was just introduced in winex 3.3. they request:

    If there are any problems, please report them through support requests or in the vote comment section.

    unfortunately i don't know of a solution to your problem :(

    Keyword there was ABOUT, felt more like a year, for all the problems I was having with Steam. I have yet to go back and try again since I have upgraded router firmware, installed MDK 10, WineX 3.3.2. It should be interesting to see what happens this time :tux: :mdk: :sun:

  12. I have been have much problems with Glibc-3.3.2 TLS, it just refuses to update any of the patches. Have you heard of anyone else having this problem ? with UT2003.

    I have heard a few things about TLS but I haven't got a solution. I thought the cdrom > 2225 patch fixed the TLS thing but it looks like it's broken again

    Thanks hoss, guess I will just have to buy 2004 instead, and Doom III when I get a chance.

  13. !nkubus,

    I'm having the same problem. And installing a different source does not help. I think there is something that has gone wrong during a previous update of urpmidrake or something.

    IMHO it must be something like the problem in this thread.  Gonna check that from the moment I find the time.

    Ciao,

    Sitor

    Hey all;

    I checked this one out at home, and this was not the problem for me. The file is there and owned by ROOT, proper permissions and all that. URPMIDRAKE is still broken for me, and I am starting to fall behind on sec updates. Looks like I will have to do them all manually until someone figures this out :) Thanks.

  14. Hey all;

        Here is the senario; Mounting Samba shares from Solaris 9 on to my MDL 10 machine, in order to edit the pages using CodeWeaver Crossoffice, and DreamWeaver MX. When I mount the html folder on Mandrake using

    smbmount //solarisserver/myaccount /home/myaccount/html (This mounts without any errors)

        The permissions go from "myaccount:staff" on the Solaris Server, to "1001:wheel" when mounted on the MDL box. Why is this happening ? It is preventing me from editing the pages and saving them, due to the permissions. I have done a ton of reading thus far, but I am not sure what I am missing ? Anyone have any suggestions ? Thanks ...

    As a temporary fix for now, I have made sure the html files that I needed to ediit, were chmod 666 (RW) prior to smbmounting the shares. This enabled me to do the editing that I required.

  16. I just instaled Steam via, Winex3  :help:  and i went ahead and installed the tg-font-install as well. My font still do not work correctly. I check out the transgaming font FAQ and it didnt really help me i think i do not have the newest version of freetype2. Does anyone know where i can get the new freetype2 for mandrake 10. I only installed using the first cd is there any chance it could be on the second cd or third/forth.

    Also has anyone successfuly gotten CS/STEAM to run in mandrake 10 and if so how did you do it?

    any help you could give me would be greatful, i want to get gaming soon!  :afro:

    I played around with Steam and WineX 3.3 for about 3 months, and MadHattr, ... let me tell you something, IT SUCKS THE BIG ONE !! I installed Opposing Force, CS, and Day of Defeat, and the only time I could ever play, was the first time I ran Steam, after doing a complete reinstall. Then it just keeps telling me that I am "Unable to run game at this time please try later". Then I have to reinstall it again. Valve has a ton of issues to work out with that one. I guess they even suffered a DDoS by a disgruntled user LOL. Transgaming made a poor choice on adding support for this one.

  17. After posting about support for the X125 (all in one) printer on the forums, at Linuxprinting.org site, regarding the drivers and MDL 10RC1. I got a reply that the latest contrib foomatic packages do now have experimental support built into them. I installed the packages, and my USB printer is detect by CUPS, but I am still having problems getting it to print yet. I will add a HOW TO on my site, once I get this working.

  18. Yeah Yeah I know... I said that I would never play around again with Beta Code :) But with the new kernel and all the other pluses...I just could not resist :) Anyway here is my problem, the UT2003 and UT2004 Demo installations run flawlessly, but when I try to update UT2003 using the Loki Update Tool that comes with UT2003, it downloads the patch without any hitches, but when it goes to install the update, I am getting this error;

    cannot handle file 'libc.so.6' with TLS data

    This is a new one for me, so I figured I would throw it out to wolves. Anyone else playing around with MDL 10 yet ? Any takers ... Ravage...Ravage Bulllour ?? hehehehehe

  19. I'd like to know if anyone has gotten the new Jedi Academy running in Linux through Wine or WineX. I'm seriously thinking of getting it and want to know.

    Here is an installer created by Kratz00, he has 2 installers for both the Lucas Arts Games, and a few others. I have tested a few of them out and they work like a charm, almost looks and feels like the games are running natively vice through emulation.
