Does not work. in failsafe when i type init3, it tells me invalid command.

I decided to upgrade from 10.0 official to 10.1 community. Now when i want to boot and i reach the login screen before entering in Kde, i enter my pasword. it starts to load and then does not complete the loading. any idea why ?

One more question, is it safe to install from the 10.1 community or should i wait fr the official 10.1 verion ?

is there a list of hardware supported for 10.1, available ?

I installed Mandrake 10.0 a few month ago and i would like to know how can i upgrade to version 10.1. Is it Possible ? Are There any issues ?

will it work if i play a quicktime movie out ot the navigator, i am talking about a quicktime trailer i would play in Vlan or Totem after having downloaded it on my computer.

When i play quicktime trailers like this one for example : http://pdl.warnerbros.com/wbmovies/alexand...teaser_hi_a.mov i do not have any sound. Any idea why ? it i the same whether i use VLan or Totem program.

i was wondering if there are tools for mandrake such as disk defragmenter or disk cleanup? Do i need to defragment linux or is it not necessary ?

does anyone knows where can i find gimp2_0 for mandrake 10.0. i looked on the mandrake website and i see it is available in the cd from the powerpack edition. Unfortunately i only have discovery edition. Is there any mirror somewhere where i can download it ?

well i have a website with a forum hosted on my machine for test i i wanted to test the automatic password reminder sent by email for users. when i test it, the email is not sent. and when i look into sendmail, it tells me the emails have been deffered, denied by pwks.no-p.org. So once agan, there must be a setting that i am not making right...

Please help, how do i configure Sendmail.

that depends on your router really... (some, probably cheaper ones, don't like forwaring the packet that has come from inside the network back inside the network using the port forwarding rules.) photoworks, a cheap trick to make it work would be to edit the /etc/hosts file, adding pwks.no-ip.org after localhost on the 127.0.0.1 line. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i edited the files and now it works fine, i can have access to my server by entering my address : http://pwks.no-ip.org/

i really don't know what is happenning on my system, but some weird thins happened. I noticed that the protection was high, so i dowgraded the protection to standard and then the internet connection was accesssible again ( though in the panel "internet connection", the connection "lan" is on status not connected". I then upgraded again to high. The connection still works (thou, once again in the panel "internet connection", the connection "lan" is on status not connected. my network card is recognized properly.

today, when i try to access to the internet, it tells me that the connection is down and that i need to configure it. the last time i tried (two days ago) i was able to get to the internet. I did not change anything and nmy ethernet card is ok at boot. i tried to reach my rooter at http://192.168.2.1:88/ but i can't even reach it. i tried ifup eth0 <enter> in the console as root and i get this message : Determining IP information for eth0... Done. As i have dual boot, i boot into windows and there my internet connection works.

well i installed sendmail. but i don't know how to launch it. i went to the webmin and i saw it there, though i ihave no idea how to set it up.

where do you find /etc/hosts file ? Do they have specfic names ?

Does anyone knows how to configure a mail server in mandrake 10.0. is there any tutorial and which tools needs to be installed.

:unsure: where on apache can i change the settings in order to access to my server from both local and outside ? currently, when i type http://pwks.no-ip.org/ from my machine it does not work. i have to type http://localhost/ from another computer, by entering the http://www.pwks.no-ip.org/ i have no problem accessing the server. Does anyone have an idea how to fix that issue ???? :unsure:

i have installed apache on my machine and i have setup my server. i have put several websites in the following folder : file:/var/www/html in local, when i type http://localhost/fashionbug/forum or http://localhost/photoworks or http://localhost/lazhar or http://localhost/greece (those are the different website i have on local), everyone of those link works now, when i try to access the websites from outside, i encounter problems : when i type http://82.0.59.93/fashionbug/ , i can access to the page. However, when i type http://82.0.59.93/fashionbug/forum/ or http://82.0.59.93/photoworks/ or http://82.0.59.93/greece/ or http://82.0.59.93/lazhar/ it does not work. In order to work i have to add foreach specific website its homepage file, like that : http://82.0.59.93/fashionbug/forum/list.php?f=1 or http://82.0.59.93/photoworks/index.htm or http://82.0.59.93/greece/index.htm or http://82.0.59.93/lazhar/index.html Does anyone know what settings are wrong on ????
