mystified

I found out what's happening and I can't figure out why. My /home is reporting as only 283 MB when I know the partition was over 20 GBs. I'm going to back up everything on a CD. Delete the partition and create a /usr and a /home. Do I have to copy everything over from my old /usr directory to the new partition?

It's reiserfs. And when ever I run df -h it shows me the partition is full.

Well I took pmpatrick's advise and I found out why I can't resize /home. It's showing that it's full and it's a 20GB partition with maybe 1 GB being used. Any ideas on how to fix this? I really don't want to delete /home. I just want to resize it.

I don't have enough space on / in Debian so I wanted to create a new /usr partition from /home. I booted into Mandriva One, went to mcc and disk partitioning. Clicked on /home, unmounted it and then clicked on resize and it told me that partition was not resizable. Any ideas?

I got a really nice new Netgear router and everything is working again! Yay! I get so frustrated when I'm having problems with my computers. Now I'm happy! :D

I still get the same error messages but then it starts. Guess I need a new router. Thanks iphitus.

I'm not sure what you meant about the ipconfig /all and duplicating the settings but I did do ipconfig /release and then plugged my gentoo box in and went to restart dhcp. It completely freaked on me. I get Error, eth0: ignoring packet with xid -XXXXXXXXX as it's not ours (i101516628) I have no idea what this means or how to fix it. And nothing is working through my router atm so I'm plugged directly into the modem.

Edit: Now dhcp is working in Debian on the laptop but nothing in Gentoo or Mandriva

Edit again. Now Debian's not working either. :wall:

My internet connection won't work in either Gentoo, Mandriva or Debian on my laptop when plugged directly into my cable modem. The only thing that works is Windows! I can understand having problems in one but three on two different computers. Any suggestions? Please? I hate having to use windows.

It's a little late but I just saw your post. Not sure but you might need this driver R115321.EXE http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/...;cs=19&l=en You also need to remove the Broadcom native driver. In Debian I had to blacklist it but I'm not sure what you do in Mandriva.

I keep my scripts in a folder (aptly named) scripts in my home directory and then I just open a terminal and cd into it and then just run sh script.sh and you can watch it do it's work. Sorry if I wasn't clear before. :)

You can open up a text editor and type in mirdir -e none /media/storage1 /media/storage1b and save it with an .sh extension. Then all you have to do is type in sh script.sh and it will run for you.

Mayby a stuppid question but how do i extract the firmware from the *.sys file, i've never used bcm43, because i still using 2006 with NdisWrapper. I'll wait until 2008 comes out

It's not a .sys file. And when I used the native drivers it automatically extracted the firmware. I just had to copy it to the new directory. But I agree with adamw. Try ndiswrapper first.

I have that exact same card in my laptop. You need bcmwl5.inf and bcmwl5.sys windows drivers. It doesn't matter where you put them. Then just run networking, wireless through mcc. It'll search for drivers and then if will ask you if you want to use windows drivers. You then navigate to bcmwl5.inf and then just follow the steps using the wizard. Don't forget to do modprobe ndiswrapper when you're done. Run ndiswrapper -l and it should show you that the drivers are installed.

You can also try the native drivers. They're built into the kernel and you follow the following steps. urpmi bcm43xx-fwcutter

let it download and extract firmware.

cp the *.fw files from /lib/firmware to /lib/hotplug/firmware (you have to create this directory).

use mcc to set your wireless connection up. This card does not support WPA so if you want encryption you need to use WEP.

I have added a Contact Form to the default skin. You do not have to log in to access this form. It is designed to be used to help people who are having trouble logging in or registering. Also if you need to contact the admins you can use this form as it sends out an email to all of us.

Edit: Per request of spinynorman it is also now included on the Portal Page as Contact Staff.

There's a program called mirdir that is perfect for what you want. It's very easy to use and it compares your backups to the original and makes an exact duplicate. I don't know if it's available in easy-urpmi or not but here's a rpm for it. http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...ckage_id=146026 I just set it up as a cron job on my gentoo box and don't have to worry about backups.

Ok, I added it. Now if you can translate it for me I'll change it. I also noticed that some things are missing in My Controls. You can see the ones on the left. Friends and Personal Portal Information. I also need Recently Read Topics, Registered On, Messenger, Your Account Summary, Note Pad, Posts, and Post Average. That's all I can find in the pages for now but I'll keep looking for other things that need to be translated.
