  1. I no longer have the iso files though, I deleted them not long after mandrake had installed
  2. That's a funny thing, when I first installed mandrake if I didn't have a package it asked for the cdrom. But after the latest clean installations it simply says "package not found." Like when I wanted to look at the manual, on the previous installations I did it asked for disk 3 so it could install the package. But the latest installations it tells me it's installing packages but no progress meter appears and finally displays a 'package not found' error.
  3. Well, the configuration file doesn't exist. And according to the internet program neither does a lot of other files. So I'm thinking the installation failed in some way.
  4. Nope. It still doesn't even try. I don't know what I'm doing wrong here :(
  5. I just have it set on eth0. Maybe that's why the busy light doesn't even blink. I'll try it.
  6. Well, I installed linux again on a different harddrive. It still seems to hate my modem :( Ok, I installed the update packages for drakconnect I found 5 minutes ago. I need to know how to set it up. I've got as far as autodetecting the modem. I can type in my username and password. Then it asks my for a 'dns' or something. The Tiscali UK website doesn't say a thing about the server setup. The only information it mentions is for the dial up service How do you other people do it? (btw, the eagle package still doesn't compile)
  7. This originally was about me not getting my modem to work. I can't do it, it's too difficult for me to use. Everything on this os is just one problem after another. It's incompatable with a lot of things and just isn't simple enough for my liking. Maybe if it becomes more of an os standard I'll use it. But otherwise: 'So long, and thanks for all the fish' Someone delete this please.
