Doing a Gentoo install on the Laptop, and as of 1942 PST I have started the bootstrap script. So far so good. Took a bit to get to this point but I got some help from a friend. Does anyone here know how hard doing wireless is going to be in gentoo? I'd like to be able to use it if I can.

Ok, so what about starting it up? If I want to install this on a Laptop what will I have to look forward to concenring things like PCMCIA, Wireless cards, Laptop configureations. And if I go on the Desktop will I be able to use my favorite Window Manager and have it boot directly into the GUI?

So what do I have to do if I want to bootstrap it? If I pull off a seccessful Bootstrapping on this at stage 1 what can I look forward to?

I've been reading about Gentoo for a bit and I was wondering what exactly was the difference between Gentoo and distros like Mandrake and Red Hat. I have been looking at the installation guide and it seems rather complexe for someone of my admittedly low level. If I were to try to use Gentoo, what exactly would I get if I did that instead of Mandrake? I don't plan to anytime soon, but I am curious.

As a device on itself I love it. It may not be as slim or flashy as the Ipod, but it's 200 dollars less for a comprible memory size and unlike the Ipod you have a User replaceable Battery. IPod doesn't have that. In windows I can get it working just fine, but I have issues with linux right now since it's not working :(

I have a nomad Jukebox Zen NX, I've been trying to get it to work in 9.2 and I keep having issues of it not being recognized in USB. I have been using Gnomad2 but no go on it. I also use a NetMD and I need help getting it to transfer files from the computer to the Device.

I need help on the PCMCIA slot of my laptop. It will only recognize one of the slots, and it is not the slot that has the card in it. If anyone has seen the card slots on this model you know the top one is pretty much useless. I need help getting it to recognize both so I can set up the PC cards I have for SD, Flash, and the Wireless lan card.

New question. I have a PCMCIA card for wireless networking for my laptop. How can I go about using the Wireless connection in linux?

Ok, does any one know of any good video editing software in Linux? I'm just looking for right now..

Are there any good DVD burners for Linux software wise? I have a HP DVD burner dvd200i. Help would be nice.

Hi, I've been trying to get away from Microsoft for a while, but I always end up coming back to it because of some reason or another. Now I'm wanting to take it out completely. How do I do this on my laptop. It's a GATEWAY1400 SOLO with a P3 chip in it. Thoughts? Tips? Exorsism Rights?
