  1. So how do you install these? Just open a shell, change to the i586 dir, and run "rpm -u *" to install/upgrade them all? Then reboot and you'll now be on 3.2?
  2. Mplayer gives me a codec error of 0x56444152 when playing some AVI's. Obviously it's really trying to say that it doesn't have a codec for the particular encoding. How do I find out which it needs? Thx
  3. I have what I would call/experience as a memory leak with my Mandrake 9.2 system. I watch the memory usage slowly climb (via superkaramba's tmon) until approx. 24-48 hrs after a reboot I get a total freeze (no response to keyb, CTRL-ALT-BKSPCE, etc.) where only hitting the reboot button will do. What tools are available to me to try and identify what applications/applets are causing the problem? I have tried using ps and top, but don't seem to get what I want out of them .. that being to be able to run an application/tool every couple of hours that will show me what application is using what amount of memory and see after x hrs that application/applet/service xyz is growing slowly. After reboot I am using 274Mb of RAM (according to tmon) which slowly climbs to anywhere around 400Mb-510Mb (+ sometimes swap) until the lockup/freeze. Thanks.

  5. Base rpm install of Evolution 1.4.4 with MDK 9.2. Evolution runs extremely slow, to the point of 'pausing' (unable to do anything else) whilst it occurs. I can send an email and it (Evo) will 'pause' whilst it writes it to the outbox, or during the type of a new email it will 'pause' and I'll be 5-8 words in front of it and then it will suddenly display the text I typed, etc. I updated to 1.4.5 via norlug rpm but no difference, same sort of pausing. Anyone able to help out with what may be the cause? I'm using KDE, don;t experience this 'pausing' with any other aps, so I belive it's either a Evo or Gnome/GTK issue.
