noob

i have an asrock mainboard, basically a devision of asus. all i got was a hdd timout error and it refused to install. i think that linux should be made asus in-tolerant. literally give them the finger and make linux incompatable with asus. its asus that are loosing out, not us.

i am new to linux and i did the first one, off the cd. it works and i got it to run ms visual basic for a short time, about 3 secs before it crashed. i need the latest version. where can i get it from?

i need a lot of help installing wine. can any one give me instructions on where to download from, hor to install it and how to set it up to run.

i can now access the internet in linux and windows. thanks for any help. it was the windows only machine being a big meany. ill download the new version oif wine and try it then.

if i boot windows, i can access the lan ok, but the internet is not accessable. when linux is booting, it says starting eth0 of somthing similar, waits about a minuite then fails it. i can't set up the network in linux as i am a bit rusty. it is a realtec summin or other and it detects it and installs the driver (they are called drivers on linux i hope) i just cant get it set-up.

is wine on the 9.2 disks or do i have to download it.

i need to get my linux/windows machine networked to another windows machine. one is running wimdows me, and the other is me/linux 9.2. how do i get it to work. i need to access the internet through the network aswell.

i had to re-install linux and try every s3 card it could support. it works fine now. its slow to boot up and shut down though. how do i run windows apps in it?

i havent a clue how to change drivers or even access the cd drive. ill try the startx command now. nope, same except the screen flickers before it has the same darn screen.

ok, ive just installed mandrake 9.2 and it will only boot up into the commandline shell. if i try to wun the gui by typing "X", it has a screnn of junk and near the bottom it says "no screens found". well, not junk but i havent a clue. ive run drakxconf and set up the display, but is i test, it tells me to change some parameters. i have tried every possible variation of my graphics card(within the same s3 trio selection) and it wont have it. iv'e tried every resolution there is and i need to get it to work. i can't use the command shell on anything well(except the amiga) and i need my internet access back asap. PLEEEEESE HELP ME :(
