  1. done with kde...installed all the updates. But now another problem showed up. When i try to log off my session, kde loggs off, and then instead of returning to log on screeen, the monitor goes in stand by. The same happens with gnome. Can't switch to a different terminal, can't do nothing. All i can do after that is reboot with ctrl-alt-delete. i can't see what's causing it to do that. Any ideeas? Thx.
  2. well...the solve is useless if i can't run kde anymore...any ideeas on how to fix kde?
  3. This is unbelivable. I tried another aproach, this time i installed the drivers from the non-free official repos. I configured the card with XFdrake, cause that's what it said in the download notes, and now i have 3d accel, but i can't set a resolution higher than 1024x768. Any ideea on why kde is not starting?? :-s...thanks. Edit: Well, i'm stuck with gnome and a 1024x768 @ 70Hz resolution for now. Can't fix kde. If anyone has any ideea on this...
  4. Great, now i just installed ati proprietary drivers, and i was able to configure the resolution and refresh rate, from the catalyst control center, but now i don't have 3d accel. I tried to run chromium and i think it goes arround with 1 fps. Before installing the drivers, it was working well. Anyone can help? Please
  5. Hello there. I'm new to this forums, but not that new with linux. Used to own suse before. I just installed Mandriva spring free 2008, and i have a problem. My monitor is a Likom L703X. It supports a maximum resolution of 1280x1024 @ 60 Hz. Checked that in hardware config, and set my desktop resolution to 1024x768. I can't set the refresh rate though, and it's curently running on 60Hz. It's killing my eyes. When i try to open kontrol center and configure the display from there, the x server locks. Can't do nothing and i have to restart it. I have an Ati Radeon 9550 with 256 vram. Can anyone tell me how to manually adjust the refresh in xorg.conf? Any kind of help is apreciated. Thanks.
