  1. Thanks guys (and/or gals) but that is not what I need.

I already changed the Bootsplash and played around with it. I don't want to simple change LiLO splash and Bootsplash but remake them :D ;)

    Bootsplash remaining prob

How to redefine the position of the elapsed bar (silent mode) or dimensions of the text window (verbose mode)? Ah! Without having to reboot each time I change values in CFG files

    LilO Splash remaining prob

How to make a new MESSAGE file (using the old format & not using the new bitmap facility of lilo)?

    Thnaks in advance.

  2. You only need linstalled lilo (and use it for the bootloader) and point the

    message=/path/to/boot/message

in lilo.conf to one of the message files that you've download, to change the face of the lilo bootscreen.

But what about if we want to make a *new* lilo message file? Do you know of any link?

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Hi,

If you have "message=/boot/message" in your lilo.conf, you will get a conflict error. Just use a "#" to comment out the "message=/boot/message" line in the event that you get this error.

Do you know by chance how to make the message files?

I have a Script-fu that processes some parts but it seems that it is required a mkbootmsg script that seems to be SuSE specific :wall:

  4. If you need help in your own language, check our   list of translators.

If you would like to be included in the list, please post in this thread:  volunteers may receive an occasional personal message requesting their help.

What kind of "translation" this requires? I didn't understood it well, sorry :)

In any case, I'm a native-speaker of portuguese (Portugal).

  5. Hi,

If all below 10.1 use XFree86 and now 10.1 will use XOrg how can we upgrade the desktop?

Does 10.1 remove XFree86 and replace it by XOrg OR do we have to uninstall XFree86 after 10.1 upgrade?

    Thanks for you help.

  6. Kaffeine crashes, which is my main application on the livecd

I also had this problem. I solved it with some config testing in KDE's Sound Configuration and removing Totem (which crashed a lot more).

It doesn't crash now, but I'm using Mandrake 9.2 OEM with a few add-ons ;)

  7. There is now a Portuguese release of my LiveCD, KDE 3.2.1, KOffice, Kontact, konversation, Apollon, kopete, gthumb, gftp, bluefish and more (...)

    Hi,

Great effort. It is not only a portuguese version. It is a step forward in relation to your last version. Congratulations :D

Meanwhile, you don't mind I issue here a few notes? Hope not.

    1. I noticed that some of the apps that are not translated in RL are in portuguese here in my PC (Mdk 9.2).
    2. Why not use KBear instead of gFTP? KBear is a KDE App.
    3. One more thing... If it is planned to be a portuguese version you should include the brand new OpenOffice.org 1.1.0 Portuguese instead of KOffice becasue it benefits from a joint effort from Sun Portugal, Portuguese Government and several portuguese companies. It has also increasing support both in Portugal and Brasil.
For a portuguese version it will be an better choice rather than KOffice that has sparce support :cheesy:
    4. And finally, for those apps I saw in your screenshots, K3B has also a portuguese version :D

  8. What would be handy (if it doesnt exist already) would be a live CD with all of the Freevo software and associated dependencies all configured and ready to run.

Of course , you would need to have a TV card in your box, but it would be seriously handly to just pop a cd in and your box turns into a Tivo-style system.

Now THAT would be seriously cool.

    See it at http://www.freepia.org/

It seems to be exactly what you are looking for (or almost).

  9. Hi,

I do periodical updates for my 9.2 Discovery machine.

Suddently Totem and Real Player stop working. When starting they both freeze and I have to use xKill to close them :wall:

Does anyone have a clue of what could be happening???

    Best and thanks,

  10. I made already several LiveCD's (with USB key support) with the harddisk-installer, but the problem is when you use a system with low memory the systems hangs at booting of the CD, so better use a system with al lot of memory.

    Gerard,

    a bit OT ...

How did you build your livecd to get the usb key support working? Which option do I have to append?

    Which cvs version of mklivecd?

I too would like to know more on this.

I'd like to start an office version that could be using only a USB 256 key. No CD :D

And of course, only one language. Could be great for traveling propuses or tech support staff.

    Best,

  11. Hi guys!

I'm preparing an ATX machine to work with MDK and Games and after it goes to the press so they can test it and hopefully make a review on it.

It was a challenge made by a friend for us (me and the linux community) to show that a regular (sort of) PC with Mandrake Linux could compete with regular PC with MS Windows XP in the games front.

It is not needed to offer ALL MSWinXP's panoplia of software, but only one or two of each that really work

    Hope we win

I need some links to software (if possible some heavy 3D FPS and free) to install and test.

And of course some hints on how to make them work extra-fine

    Machine configuration:

    • Mainboard FIC P4M-800T, Socket 478, VIA PT800
    • 2,8 GHz Intel Pentium 4 w/ HT Tech., FSB800
    • 256MB DDRAM PC400
    • 120 GB Seagate Barracuda HDD
    • Teac DVD/CD-RW Combo
    • Radeon 9200V 128MB DDR SDRAM
    • AGP 4x RiserCard
    • V1020 SAT Tuner Card
    • Ports 4x USB 2.0, 2x IEEE 1394 Firewire, 6 ch. audio, SPDIF out
    • 10/100 Base-T Ethernet, serial, parallel, mouse and kb
    • Mandrake 9.2 Discovery

All :help: is much appreciated :) :cheesy:

Thank you all in advance for your kind cooperation.

  12. The other thing that I wanted to say is that I am worried about Linux because if it didn't make in the States, then it is unlikely for it to have a chance somewhere else.

    Hi,

    I don't think so :D

Did you heard about China Government positions and GNU/Linux?

They surelly won't care a dawn to what happens in USA Courts B)
