  1. Hi everybody! Here is an update. I installed 2.4.25 kernel and it worked without problem. And then I tried with 2.6 kernel and with some twiking made it to work. But the problem is if i reboot all is lost and it wouldn't even boot (stops at checking new hardware stage) if the USB modem is connected. And I have to manually reconfigure after it is booted into 2.6 kernel. I tried to add things to modprobe.preload and modprobe.conf but without success. Can somebody please help regarding this setting? Thanks. Santanoo
  2. Hi! Anybody using Webstar cable modem via usb? I have successfully used it in 9.2 using CDCEther. I am unsuccessful with that and also usbnet as someone else suggested. I am now trying MDK 10 Official. Any help will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks Santanoo [moved from Hardware by spinynorman]
  3. Hi! Anybody successfully running Internet Explorer in Mandrake? I need it in my box to see some website with fonts only supported in IE. I am unsuccessful in installing IE with a mandrake WINE RPM. I followed instructions in Frank's corner without luck. Has anybody successfully running IE in Mandrake WINE install. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks Santanoo
  4. Hi! Please refer to my previous post. You have to manually remove the /dev/536ep and relink to /dev/modem. For some reason kppp does not automatically install and so you have to install it from the CD manually. Hope this helps. Santanoo
  5. Hi! I did have a lot of problem with 536ep winmodem. Now it is working. First of all the 4.62 driver doesnot work, try 4.60 instead. Make a clean install, I mean, go to your 536ep driver directory (that you have downloaded and extracted), do make clean, make 536ep and make install (as Root/ Su). Note that after you have done make install it ends up in an error messege 'cannot remove /dev/536'. Do a manual removal by rm -f /dev/536ep say yes to the next then re-link /dev/536ep by ln -sf /dev/536ep /dev/modem Now restart your kppp and use /dev/modem as your modem and configure your dial-up. Hope this helps Santanoo
  6. Hi! I have just installed MDK 9.2 and also installed Thac's multimedia kernel and source. I have 2 sound cards, audigy and midiman delta 66 / omni. Now alsa is loading for both cards and Kmix is showing both cards but I cannot play any sound on Midiman card. The audigy is playing nicely. If I try to install envy24control it is ending in error messeges. Could you help me please! Thanks Santanoo
  7. Any help will begrately appreciated.
  8. Hi! I am fairly new to linux, I installed Mandrake 9.1 in a logical partition and using XOSL as a bootloader for XP (work), XP (audio optimized) and MDK linux. First I had to install driver for my Intel 536ep winmodem. After struggle (version 4.62 didn't work but 4.60 did) it is working but it shows "unresolved symbols" in its module as did the alsa core module. I have 2 sound cards 1. Audigy and 2. Midiman Delta 66. Both are detected by MDK installer and Audigy is working fine. I tried to install snd-ice1712 and Alsa drivers but could not make Delta 66 to work. Now I am getting "unresolved symbols" in the snd.o module aand alsa is not loading. Though the Audigy is playing fine (even without the alsa running). I have tried different Kernel version and respective source (2.4.21-18 and 2.4.21-25) but without any success. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Probably I am not giving enough information, please let me know if you need any further information. Is there anybody running more than 1 soundcard or running Delta 66? Thanks Santanoo
