  1. Hi, I have Mandriva Linux 2010.2 with KDE and I'm wondering how to save my various windows positions and contents upon a shutdown/reboot? 2008 used to do it automatically, but now 2010.2 doesn't. It seems to be saved to a previous state, and every time I shutdown/reboot it reverts to that previous state, not the most recent one. Thanks.
  2. Hi, I have just installed Mandriva 2009.1 One KDE, and it seems like pcsclite 1.5.2 is installed by default. I downloaded 1.5.4, built it and tried to install it after uninstalling 1.5.2, however even though the install was successful, the usbdropdir of /usr/local/pcsc/drivers doesn't seem to be created, and pcscd therefore exits with a failure. What gives?
  3. Hi, I have Mandriva 2009 installed on my main boot drive. I have another drive that I wish to run LILO off of, since I will be updating its kernel. The problem is that that drive runs as part of a set-top box like application, so it boots right up to the main application program, and there's no way for me to boot up from it into a shell and run LILO. Is there any way I can update LILO of that drive, while booted up from my Mandriva box? I've read about chroot but I'm not sure how to use it, despite reading the man page. Thanks.
  4. Hi, I'm having problem with emacs on both 2009 and 2009.1. When I run emacs and it starts up, I get a big menu with the greeting
  5. Hi, I have Mandriva One 2009.0 installed and I accidentally removed the default panel with the start menu, task manager etc. How do I get it back? I tried adding a panel but it always goes to the top and it's empty. I tried manually adding widget to the new panel too but I can't find the right ones, I can't seem to put them where I want them to be, and they seem to be aligned vertically(and hence look very squashed horizontally) rather be aligned horizontally.
  6. Thanks for the replies guys. First of all let me say that I'm a Linux noob. I've had some unix/linux exposure before but not much. AussieJohn: I'm using Mandrake 9.1 because I will be taking over development of some software that is based on the older 2.4 kernel. For the purpose of this, Mandrake is sufficient and will probably be too much of a hassle to upgrade. coverup: thanks I'll try that. neddie: I'm sure it's 1024x768. I can tell when a LCD is not in its native resolution. Besides, I double checked using my LCD's OSD. It says 1024x768. What do you mean by "XFDrake from an X-less login"? I have a feeling the i915 drivers aren't being installed correctly, because it still says "videocard" and when I use drakxconf, I don't see any new options for the i915 chipset either. I tried reinstalling the drivers and it says its successful but no changes seem to have been made. How do I check this? Thanks again.
  7. Hi, I have Mandrake 9.1 and I'm having problem setting up my IBM USB optical wheel mouse. It keeps defaulting to generic PS2 wheel mouse, and the wheel doesn't work. Any ideas?
  8. Hi, I have Mandrake 9.1(kernel v2.4.x) and I'm having trouble setting the screen resolution. It's stuck at 1024x768 even though I try changing it in the mandrake control center. I've installed the intel i915 graphics driver, but harddrake lists it as simply "videocard". I've also set the monitor to a general flat panel 1280x1024, but even though the control center shows that the resolution is 1280x1024, it's actually 1024x768, no matter what resolution I try to set it as. Help?
