  1. Hmm, that worked but "checking for KDE... configure: error:

in the prefix, you've chosen, are no KDE headers installed. This will fail.

So, check this please and use another prefix!

    "

It just seems to be another problem after another =/

    Can you help again please?

    thanks :]

  2. Hmm, this is weird.

I looked through /usr/lib and QT3 and QT4 are there?

And when i do that command I get the following:

    "[root@localhost joshua]# urpmi qt3-common

    Package qt3-common-3.3.8b-1mdv2008.1.i586 is already installed

Package qt3-common-3.3.8b-1mdv2008.1.i586 can not be installed"

    =/

  3. Right, I've found the source so I can install it by compilation, but half way through ./configure it says "checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.3 and < 4.0) (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation!

    "

I don't know where to install these. Can you please help?

    Thanks

  4. Heya..

I just installed Mandriva 2008.1 today and so far love it, coming from ubuntu.

There is one teething problem I am having with it though.

I can't set up my printer.

It is a Epson Stylus C62.

I chose it from the printer lists and everything and the printer is connected via the parallel port.

    But it won't print.

What option shall I pick for where it is plugged in?

Since it is in the parallel port.

    Thanks

  5. I really do like Mandriva, when Hardy comes out- If it doesn't please me, I think I'll be re-formatting my drive and sticking Mandriva on it.

    I think it is amazing.

Much faster - and with KDE 4, it looks ok. I came from a GNOME environment - but I don't mind which I use, KDE makes me happy though xD

  6. Hmm, Rofl Cos I only just took windows off (well 3 months ago) My dad doesn't want me to install it yet. Even though he doesn't know too much about computers.

But when Hardy comes out, I'll check it out - but I think Mandriva is more my liking.

    I LOVE IT!!!

So I guess I'll be using thta soon

  7. Hello, I have been using Ubuntu now for a year and a bit.

But, it has started to get old-hat, and some of the things (such as my USB ADSL modem) don't work very well in it.

So, I tried out Mandriva One the other day and I was amazed at how good it is with my hardware.

I mean, I don't need them, but my 3D effects on ubby really aren't very good - and that may be down to my 64MB shared graphics, but they work wonders in Mandriva. My internet connection is superb. So I am quite swayed now.

    Should I change? Or What?

And, in Ubuntu, where you can upgrade every 6 months - is this sort of thing implemented in Mandriva?

    Thank you for your help.

    Josh
