Try this,
when you highlight what you want copied, leave it highlighted and go to whatever you are going to paste it into and click the middle mouse button. This should paste it magically without asking it to copy!

Finally got it THANKS!!
I really want to be able to give Mepis a good once over, but I refuse to lose Mandrake in the process!
It took a bit of both ideas, I had to bring the image in and than let Mandrake know about it, incorporating some of the configuration from Mepis's lilo.confg to get it to play.
I really don't think that Mandrake wants to play with Mepis(or maybe debian), I cannot view the second drive, it shows on my desktop, but I cannot browse it at all. While this is not an issue in any way, just curious......

The Mepis boot is currently showing hdb3, which is what appears to be the root directory, however, it doesn't matter what I point it to, I continue to get the same results. (this is from Mandrakes config using the System Configuration tool).
MDG, I had each distro install create thier own boot loader on hda1 and than configured it once booted.
Currently, each has it's own boot loader on it's own drive so I can boot in by switching the boot order in the bios.

Is it possible to add words?
It would really be convenient if the spell checker recognized words like:
Lilo, bootloader, Reiser, Gaim, Konquerer, Abiword, and many many more!!!

I currently have Mepis on my second drive I use for playing with other distros, my problem is I cannot get either disros boot loader to get the other to boot! I had the same issue with Libranet as well, but not with other non-debian based distros.
I have tried both Grub and Lilo, auto and manually(to the best of my ability) and still get no where.
Under Lilo configured by Mandrake I get a kernel panic after a few moments of loading, under grub by Mandrake, I get an error that claims it is an invalid format, unable to read. When using Mepis's bootloader (grub I believe) it states Loading and just sits there waiting for god knows what.
I've taken to switching first boot in the motherboards bios to go between the two, not a wholly desirable arrangement!
What am I missing!!!!!

Many of these sites use a Java applet to test the speed in, and they will tell you that it frequently works better in internet abhorer than in netscape/mozilla ect...
Who knows why, just ssdd with people setting up to work with ms.....

Take a look at gKrellm, it should be at most of the mirrors, and it provides the ability to monitor most anything on your pc...

In Mandrake control center, under boot options, drakeboot, you unselect "Launch the graphical environment when your system starts".
Works every time, and very easy to do....

Here is a prior thread about your exact issue, what is comes down to is you need to get and install the kernel-source, then try the .run file from nvidia.

As much as I hate to do it, I did a clean install as well,
from my experience and the comments of others throughout the forum this is the best way.
While it is possible to do an upgrade successfully, it is not consistent enough for me to be comfortable with it.

At my work we use Host on Demand from IBM, it runs completely in Java and works on Linux just fine....
Not sure about cost though...

Using a Shuttle nforce2 board, and the only problem I have had with it is getting the LAN connection to work, although I had this problem in 9.1 as well. I finally gave up and disabled it in the bios, and added a pci card which works fine. Otherwise, there are no problems with the nforce2!

One would think so, but no such luck, getting the drivers from Nvidia at least helps MDK to recognize the LAN connection, but getting it to configure is just plan too hard. I had it for a while when using 9.1, but lost it when attempting to update to 9.2 via urpmi. When I reinstalled 9.1, the connection would not work regardless of what I tried, and when I updated to 9.2 with the ISO download I got the same thing.
Very frustrating, I have never expected linux to be easy, but this is ridiculous!

For 9.2 It will probably work BUT if it doesn't you can get yourself into a real mess. the bad thing being your crippled without the network because you cant get onto the internet to fix it!
I can vouch for that!
I gave up on trying to get the nforce2's lan to work and disabled it and put in a pci card.

This concerns me some, I have the Texstar's KDE and Gnome installed amongst a great deal of his other work, has anyone else upgraded over Tex's files?
And if so, how did it go?

I ran into a problem with Tex's evolution as well, although I don't recall if it was this. Either way, I just went to Ximian's web site Ximian download page and used their installer. It works very easily, as does their red carpet service which resolves dependencies if needed.

What the general public is missing is the real perspective,
MS was never secure in the first place and doing anything to
up it's level of security is an improvement.
They have managed to reduce the number of holes from millions to hundreds of thousands!!!

I played around with this and my Jazz drive, with no results either, Iomega has a linux driver at:

but even with that, which requires a recompile, I didn't get anywhere.
The other thing I noticed, is in the control center under hardware, there is an "Options" button, this pops up a menu that says something like "Auto detect Jazz, Zip drives".
Again, I played with this, with no sucess. I gave up rather quickly, perhaps with a bit more persistance I or you may get it.
I'd love to hear what you did if you get it to work!

Can't say I have had that happen, I did upgrade to 0.4 last week, which does seem to work a bit better over all, perhaps that might be worth a try......
