  1. There must still be a wrong setting or something. I am running 3.0.3 and have flash working fine.

I'm racking my brain trying to figure it out. A lot has been said about this in different places, but flash CAN work in 3.0.3........ just one of those things I need to find out

  2. was this a fresh install or upgrade?

If it was an upgrade you may have a bad config file.. Look in your home directory for the hidden file .nautilus (I assume that's the name) rename it to something else and try opening nautilus... it all goes well your config file was messed up.

  3. At two points I had that problem so I'll give you the two solutions that worked.

check the location of the plugin... mine is in $HOME/.netscape/plugins and see if the permissions are set properly for read. (every now and then I have a file get the permissions screwed up)

another time I had to uninstall nsplugins and re-install it... can't explain that one, but it worked once for me.

Hopefully one of these will get you somewhere. Todd

  4. GOT 'EM! thanks for the help, I was looking around in .kde, but they were eluding me at first. I had a few things go strange on me so I made a new login to keep from using old config files. I kept the original login directory to transfer stuff I need. all in all 9.0 is lokin' good!

  5. I just did a fresh install of 9.0 saving my /home but creating a new login. I am trying to figure out where my old konq bookmarks are so I can retrieve them. Anyone know where they should be saved?

  6. Well it's a new board again, so time to throw out a pitch for the group again. We're still a small group, but I know there are SETI clients running on those MDK machines just waiting to join a group! We gotta show the world what this distro can do!

Just check it out at http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/stats/t...eam_139739.html

If you're not running SETI yet then just click on the logo at the top of the team page to learn more. Let's make this group grow!

  7. OK so I jumped the gun. Got firestarter up and running and it seems great. Now to try and see what all the "buttons and whistles" do

also my favorite site to test my security is www.grc.com in the Shields up! section.

  8. I've had really good luck in the past running FireStarter under Mandrake 8.2, and it was easy to install, configure, and use.

The info on their page looks very interesting. I may try it tomorrow if I have time. Just wondering if there is much sacrifice running under KDE rather than Gnome. It says it runs under KDE, but is optimized for gnome. Does that cause any trade-off?

  9. Anyone have any experience with any Cad software for linux? I just want something I can do simple stuff and learn basic CAD to help at work. All they have is windows programs and I'm not looking to spend a fortune. I tried one (forget the name) that was bundled with 8.0 or earlier and unless you paid a fortune for a code you could produce spectacular drawings, but not save them. I'm just looking for any suggestions.
