Oh My God, This is the solve. Wow, what a relief The latest stable NTFS-3G driver is ntfs-3g-1.516.tgz, released on May 16, 2007. http://www.ntfs-3g.org/ The application was under the available apps for install in the control center. I ran the utility and voila, I had an option to mount and I see it all. YIPEEE!! Well, thanks to all the help and I am on to installing VMWare server, hope all goes well. Over and Out,

Now, I don't know how that data is going to work in Linux, but I just can't lose it. Can you tell me what is safe? I am strapped for money, but as soon as I have it I am going to get some books on this OS. I don't like feeling stupid on a computer and although I started learning Windows through crashing and recovering, tweaking out and doing crazy stuff, my courses at school let me know what I had done and better ways to get there. In the mean time, I already wiped one drive out and put Linux first, but I can't have that happen to the other. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 3D

Ok here it goes, I went to the config utility, Mount points, Create, Dlete, etc chose the other drive and entered toggle expert mode Then options chose a few options, too tired to list and I am going to attempt reboot

Can Someone please tell me how to get my data off my other drive? Everything is in there and I don't want to have to go back to Windows.... I dont see the drive and it's an internal maxtor SATA 250 gig it's been disconncted while reformatting install, re-install many times now connected and I cant see it.

I can't find diskdrake. Went to install apps and searched, not there

Mandriva 2007 I installed on a 60 gig drive with the other 250 gig Maxtor SATA, data drive disconnected Later after many issues I was able to boot without problems so I rebooted, and attached the other drive. I have no access to that drive it seems and everything is on it, pics, music, web design, school, docs, Now that drive was originally a Windows drive and I tried to install Windows on that drive since I wiped out the Windows boot drive to switch to Linux reboot caused by windows told me the boot MGR was somethin?, basically corrupt, so I popped in the Linux DVD and rescued I'm in Linux, but I have no access to the files on that drive, or I don't know how to access them. Sorry But I have been through 60 gig of data loss, installing and re- installing Linux, because I have had it with Microsoft and I have spent the last 4 days trying to figure out what I'm doing. I am or was a Tech support for various Microsoft based Software companies and I feel like I am back to dos without any comprehension as to where to go. So the vent is not aimed at anyone Just frustration in general.

Well, the DVD install worked and I am up and running. I used http://www.howtoforge.com/the_perfect_desk..._spring_free_p1 and most things have gone well. I tried on the first attempt to follow the directions and I didn't have enough space to install the required software. Soooooooo I diconnected my 250 gig data drive and downloaded G-Parted: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php First I tried to move the hda 1 boot volume, since the hard drive defaults were crazy, Couldn't boot Mandriva G parted and removed all partitions, then followed the How to Forge and Voilla, The partition for the OS apps is still too small, I wanted more like 20 gig and I have something like 7, UGH Ok, I have no 3D desktop No aMule No Google Earth Cant reach this site for True Type Fonts: ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/seerofsouls.co...4brs.noarch.rpm No opera can't find: flash-player-plugin ( I downloaded it and installed, but when I look at plugins in firefox, it's not there this isn't there either: win32-codecs there are other suggested files that aren't in the available apps for dl the 3D desktop, Mattisse to be exact is really bugging me. Wow, I am trying not to get too excited, but I am now waiting for the packages to install YES!!!!!!!! I want to thank Everyone for responding so quickly. I have wanted to change over for years and subscribed to the Linux magazine as a temptation. As I am the Network admin in the house, I need to get my aystem up and interesting so that I can convince all parties to let me switch them over. I am sooooo sick of Microsoft's monopoly and the new Vista nightmare which is what caused this plunge. They are on Vista, I was on XP and the network would not work, many tech calls later and in home tech support and their response was "I am confused" They said it was my computer but I tried 5 nics, the onboard, 1394, wireless, PCI,Wireless USB and nothing was working. I installed the Live 2007 CD and I was immediately online. Then the issue I am dealing with occurred. Solvable, maybe solved Thanks ALL

OK, I ran over to this computer to give the news. Out of breath, computers are in different rooms, I am installing the i586 DVD and it looks like it is working this time. I'll get back after all is done. Cheers!!!

I am restarting, since I don't know how to get to the local host from there. My download of the 2007 Mandriva i586 is finished. I am going to try to do a clean install with that DVD If it doesn't work, I will get back to these instruction. I had this working fine until I started installing everything available. updates, programs, etc... Thanks for your patience.
