I have a Gf4 ti 4200 with 128mb and an Aoc 7GLR, which can work at 1600x1200 @ 75. Before i had the nvidia drivers installed, i had 60HZ, which was really ****ing my eyes. After installing the driver i now have 85HZ at 1024x768. BUT my monitor can work at 1024x768 @ 100 HZ :!: .How can i manually change the refresh rate for this resolution, or how can i change the refresh rate of a given resolution at a given color depth (i'm talkin about standard resolutions and color depths, nothin exotic).

I know that i can acces a windows share by typing : smbount //share_name/dir. But i would like to know how i could mount everything that he is sharing.I mean : if he has 5 directorys shared, i want to mount them all let's say to /home. I tried with smbmount //share_name, but i also have to specify a dir, i can't just mount everything he's sharing.

Could u tell what ide's are for C and which is the best suited for newbies.I've studied some Pascal, but when it comes to C i'm basically without a clue. And due to the fact that in the first year of university we are studying C, i've got to learn it. :)

Well, i made mozilla work even with a proxy by telling not to use it for 182.168.0.100 (my nic addres). Before it didn't work because i had told mozilla not to use the proxy for http://192.168.0.100, instead of just 192.168.0.100 as i did now. But since my friends in the nettwork are using Windows and thus Internet Explorer, they can't specify to their browser not to use a proxy for 192.168.0.100 If someone knows how to do that while using a proxy and not specifying to the browser to ignore the proxy for that addres, it would be great. PS: I know there is Mozilla for Win, but i doubt that i'll convice'm to install it. :( , they are too comfy.

Well i encountered a new problem. If i make my browser use a proxy, when i type my local nic addres, it no longer loads the test page of the apache server. U can tell Mozilla not to use the proxy for certain addreses.I told it not to use the proxy for my local nic's addres, but it won't work. I can see the test page only if i don use any proxies.Any ideas how i could view the test page even with the proxy on :?: :?: :?: It's quite important to me because everyone in my network uses a proxy for their browsers, and if i don't figure how they can view whatever my apache is serving while they are using a proxy, they won't take the proxy off just to see my weblog.

Well i installed again the same rpms and everythin works like a charm. :D
-
I've done it, i've reinstalled Mdk again Now i'm thinking wether to install those rpms. Tell me smth, if i want to install freetype2 and xft should i uninstall the older rpms, if there are any, or should i install them over the old ones (again, if they are present) :?:

.bashrc is also binary : Could not open the file "/root/.bashrc" because it contains invalid UTF-8 data. Probably, you are trying to open a binary file. And any file i try to open with vim, it gives me this warning message : viminfo:Illegal starting char in line : viminfo:Illegal starting char in line : viminfo:Illegal starting char in line : viminfo:Illegal starting char in line : After the : are some strange characters like an A with two dots above. It's really annoing.I've made my mind, i'll reinstall MDK AGAIN.

True, but i'd still like to know what caused the change . Btw: IF you are wondering why i have a different name at clib-nihil is because i first sent tvlad, but i never got the mail with the login key.

Yes, i know it's really annoying.And i don't get it, why has lilo.conf changed into a binary file ????
-
After i installed some rpm's from texstar like : fontconfig-2.0-1tex.i586.rpm freetype2-2.1.2-2tex.i586.rpm Xft-2.0-1tex.i586.rpm i rebooted and suddenly the prompt changed from root to localhost.I typed root, and them my password and it worked. But tha bash promt is also changed, it no longer says root@localhost, it says bash-2.05. I thought maybe something happened to lilo.conf.When i opened it with vim it had strange symbols, that i don't know how they got there like : @. Still i thought smth messed up vim and i opened lilo.conf with gedit, gedit which told me that lilo.conf is a binary file. How could this have happened, lilo.conf isn't a binary file, at least it shouldn't be. Do u have any ideas about what i should have to do to get things to work as before, because i'd really hate to reinstall Mdk9 the thid time, especially now that i've configured it. I'm not 100% sure that the rpms did that, but i didn't do practicaly anything else.....
-
Thx, it worked !!! Now if anyone in my network (192.168.0.xxx ) was to type 192.168.0.100 they should see my page right ? PS:I am not the server, the server is one of the guys in the network who shares his net connection.

I went to www.mandrakeforum.org and there was a link to a nice tutorial about how u can setup a weblog : running Php-Nuke in your local network. One of those steps was to setup Apache to work as an intranet server.I installed drakwizard but the web config wizard dies as soon as i press the next button, so i need to know how to setup Apache as a intranet server by modifying httpd.conf

How can i change it back to english ????? -
I chose romanian, but although it's my native language, i'm used to the english interface and besides, the romanian translation is really strange, some words are awfully translated.

This is what pmpatrick from mandrakeuser.org said, because i posted there too : I struggled with the same problem and came up with this solution: 1.Install Red Hat but do not install the bootloader; instead make a boot floppy and test to make sure you can boot into RH with it; 2. Boot into Mandrake, creat a new directory called "rhboot" at say /home/<name>/rhboot and copy the contents of the RH boot floppy to this directory; 3.Go into Mandrake Control Center>Boot.>Boot Config and press the Configure button. Press "Ok" on the drakboot window which will bring up the window for adding entries; 4.Press "Add", then "Linux" and fill in the "Image" field with: /home/<name>/rhboot/vmlinuz. Fill in the "Initrd" field with /home/<name>/rhboot/initrd.img. Root should be the partition where RH is installed (/dev/hdxx) and leave Video mode blank. Label it Red Hat and it should appear on your boot menu and boot into RH. AND it works, maybe u said the same thing, but he said it in a easier way. PS: i don't want to change the language of lio, i meant the language chosen during the inst of Mdk.

I mounted the Rh8 partiton into Mdk and i saw how vmlinuz is named in Rh8: vmlinuz-2.4.18.-14, i put that, but it still said it couldn't open it.
