  1. mmm I'm afraid that did not work. I have also had to reply using windoze as my keyboard does not work on this Forum under Linux anymore! Whatever next? I'm going to reload the OS and start again. The problems seem to relate to the combination of settings I am using for the desktop. Perhaps I'm mixing up Gnome stuff with KDE or something. Thanks for the help. Paul.
  2. Hi Being new I have been experimenting with the screen options and left myself with a window that is two thirds off the screen. I had changed my 'style' and clicked 'apply' and that left me with this little problem!! The window has also lost its minimise/maximise/quit options in the top right corner. I am using an RTK monitor with a Radeon X1300 series display adapter. The processor is an AMD 64bit dual core. I'm guessing that this a simple key sequence answer to this but canna find reference to it in my Linux 'pocket guide' nor in FAQ's (yet - there's so much to read). Ideas please short of removing the OS (Mandriva 2007 - Free ) and re-installing. Many thanks. Paul. [moved from Software by spinynorman]

Thanks AussieJohn. I have tried again and got the same response. I'll let ianw1974 get back as I have landed him with quite a bit of work I feel. Meanwhile your advice printed off and in my file! Thanks Paul.

Thanks for that. I'm totally new so allow some time for playing with the command line. Years since my 'dos' days let alone unix.

I'm depressed. No one seems able (or willing) to help me out over what is probably a very simple problem!!

    Update Failure

Hi. I am trying out the 2007 FREE dvd with the intention of losing Windoze. The install went well but it appears that the auto update process may not have worked. I have run the Mandriva Control Centre as root and asked it to download and install the necessary updates of which it found 75. All these downloaded ok verified signatures ok but then I got the following: There was a probem during the installation: qt3-common = 3.3.6-18mdv2007-0 is needed by (installed) libqt3.3.3.6 - 18mdv2007.0.i586 I searched for qt3-common ... and it appears to be waiting to be installed but I cannot get it to do so via the Control Centre. Am I doing the right thing or should I be doing something else? Any help to resolve this issue will be greatly greatly appreciated. I'm running AMD 64 bit dual processor and using my secondary HD (114gb) if that is of any help. Thanks.
