  3. More info:

    AFIK did not copy CD/DVD to disk, just ran the update from "New Updates Are Available" pop up. It suggested some install files be copied to URPMI folder.

    / Size: 7.8GB Used: 7.1 GB Open: 382m Use: 95%

    /home Size: 85GB Used: 2.4GB Open: 83GB Use: 3%

    /media/hd Size: 136GB Used: 97GB Open: 39GB Use: 72%

    Yes / is full. Not sure how it got that way. I really don't have much data on the machine.

    Since I am as my username suggests, I'm a little lost on the solution.

    sda5 = / 7.7GB

    sda7 = /home 85GB

    Resize sda7 smaller and resize sda5 larger from MCC Manage Disk Partitions, after having move the folders under /home to network storage I have available.

    ?

    Thanks.

  4. Good morning... afternoon... evening...!

    I have the following partitions:

    /home 85GB

    / 7.8GB

    swap 3.8 GB

    /media/hd 135 GB

    I ran the upgrade for 2010.1 and IIRC the install failed due to not enough space in /usr/bin

    I took the default URPMI folder to save the install files.

    New update packages now also fail. Apparently not enough space on /.

    Where did I go wrong, and how can I fix it.................?

    As always, thanks for the help.

  5. Greetings,

    After running the updates last night, I now have 5 choices of OS when previously had only the first 3.

    1). Mandriva 2009

    2). Mandriva Safe Mode

    3). Windows

    4). Linux with kernel 2.6.27-desktop586rc8-2mnb

    5). desktop586 2.6.27.4-1mnb

    I don't understand why #4 and #5 were added, and what to do with them?

    Thanks again!

  6. Currently I am (well..... ummmm.....I was....) dual booting XP Pro and 2008.1

    I ran the command line upgrade for 2009 and have wrecked 2008.1 Data was backed up prior, so no big deal really.

    I have a 2009 Live CD and prefer to reinstall.

    Questions:

    Should I remove the existing Linux partitions from XP Disk Manager before installing 2009, or leave them alone?

    Will Grub update accordingly during reinstall?

    Thanks again!

  7. Good morning, or afternoon or ...............

    I have upgraded my video board to a VisionTek X1050, to add some performance to Vista. I am dual booting Vista and MDV 2008. Old card was an Nvidia chipset.

    First time around got a black screen in MDV. Ran XFdrake from safe mode and was able to get a low resolution screen with no 3D support. fglrx will not load.

    Found this and installed it:

    http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/mandriva/2008...8.0.x86_64.html

    Ran XFdrake again and I chose the "Radeon 9500 to X1050"

    Again was unable to load fglrx, and could only support low res, no 3D.

    And to top it off, it took out my USB wireless adapter. I reconfigured it, and it still will not connect.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks!

  8. Good news...

    I'm typing this from my Firefox browser on my Mandriva 2007 box!!!!!!!

    After trying everything I could think of, I noticed a message run past the boot screen. Said that "roaming" was invalid...

    So, I reconfigured my network in MCC and unchecked "Allow AP roaming" and bingo!

    If anyone can tell me how to save a boot log, I would really appreciate it. There are a couple things going on that I need to see.

  9. First time user, first post... please be kind!

    I have browsed forums for my problem, solution, no luck.

    D-link USB DWL-G122

    Netgear WGR 614

    Mandriva 2007 - new full install

    Athlon 1.8 GHz

    384MB Memory

    Have both link light and activity light on the USB dongle. Turned OFF WEP 128bit at the AP.

    Did the following:

    Control Center, Network Internet, Set Up New, Wireless, ANI802.11g WLAN Adapter, Network=Home (my ssid), Operating Mode=Managed, Encryption Mode=None, Automatic IP, Get DNS from DHCP, Assign Host name from DHCP, Allow Users to Manage, Start at boot, Allow AP Roaming, Start now=yes, Congratulations...

    Control Center, Wireless Connection:

    SSID=Home

    Signal Strength = 2 bars

    Unlocked

    Encryption= blank

    Operation Mode= blank

    Click connect button, no change.

    Control Center, Monitor Net Connections

    I am sending and receiving packets.

    Click Connect WiFi button = verify config in Control Center. Kills send and receive.

    I am unable to get an IP address, gateway, or internet connection.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks, Brad.
