  1. Whoops! Should have been titled XFS and Mandriva 2006, not NFS and Mandriva 2006. Gary
  2. I've never ran into this problem before with prior versions of Mandriva Linux. I always have configured all my partitions during a Mandriva install as XFS type partitions (excepting the SWAP partition, of course). This has always worked fine. I tried to install Mandriva 2006 PowerPack Edition 3 times, and every time I got an error in the install process when the bootloader was being installed. Evidently, the first boot partition cannot be XFS. When I reinstalled and made the first partition Ext3 (with all the other partitions as XFS), everything installed perfectly. Has Mandriva sent out any notice of this, or anyone else posted about this? Oh, well, no big deal, as everything is now working well. [moved from Software by spinynorman - welcome aboard :)]
  3. I've had problems installing Linux/Windows XP on systems when I've previously installed the other OS. I've had good luck with running a utility to zero out the MBR and Extended MBR sectors on the hard disk drive (together the first 63 sectors on the disk). You can get MBRWizard here, (or you might find it on a Knoppix Live CD, I don't know). It exists in MS-Windows and Linux versions. I also have another utility resource to do this, which you may email me privately about at gfranken.at.charter.net.
