  1. @DragonMage: Well, the major party (SPD) has got choosen. And not all others are M$. So, if the major party AND some of the others choose.... ....In the press, it is seen as final, i hope so  @SoulSe: HEYY!!! You did NOT see the women here in Hamburg!!!
  2. The Munich city council has decided to take IBM-Linux AND OOffice for .., I HAVE TO SPELL THIS: ################################ FOUR...TEN.....THOUSAND!!!!! ################################ 14.000 PCs and 16.000 users. This decision has took about one year, the german M$-Manager stopped his holidays last week exactly for this and offered another M$-prize. At the end of last week, it seems like the decision goes to M$, but yesterday came the last decision and it was linux, because the overall prize is the same as M$, but the quality is abundantly clear on the OpenSource side The governing major is straight about this signing impact on the business, but wants to show munich as modern and interesting IT-landscape for investions and embraces this decision. http://www.heise.de/newsticker/data/anw-26.05.03-004/
  3. Like every LARGE OS, you'd better reinstall instead of upgrading. Ever tried an upgrade in the M$-World?? Miles worse. If you really believe, that it is better with other OS: do so.
  4. ...forgot sthg: Check your iptables Firewall: "iptables -L" will show you all defined rules. If there are some, you should clear all firewalling for tests until we are shure, it isn't the firewall. Then you can start it again. For deleting, check the manual of iptables, after deleting, all tables (INPUT,OUTPUT,FORWARD) have to be set to ACCEPT, check the manual again herefor. Result: Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination
  5. ;) didn't wanted the ifconfig-FILE, just wanted you to put the output of ifconfig in here. After that, insert the output of "route", then we'ld have all to help you, i think. Greets
  6. all but the ip_.... are LM-Sensors related. Is it possible that you load modules, not suitable for your board? If it works, and the system is stable, don't worry at my opinion.
  7. In worst case, you'll have to kill the ~/.kde directory. Perhaps try only to delete krusader parts, so it can restart as new at next login. Do this NOT under KDE, it will rewrite the faults when logging out...
  8. Theese lines only tell you that there were not fonts there. The xfs searches in several predefined directories for fonts to use. If he can't find any in one directory, this messages appears. For new fonts to work i had good experiences with the original Mandrake tool for it. Try it out, if you want to import new fonts. There are several good Font-rpms out there, with them, you won't have to use the Mandrake-tool. Solved?
  9. You got them on your desktop and in the kicker. If you kill all kio_thum.... sometimes KDE freezes. I got this problem, too. And after some weeks i couldn't get it stopped any more. I had to delete the ~/.kde directory and then, all was ok again. Think that there's a bug with a specific type of icon, where it hangs.....
  10. Well, how do you connect? I used DSL and LAN, both worked from start on....
  11. How do i have to configure my server to allow filetransfers? It's a server with a static internetconnection. My aim is, that i can transfer files from my clients and receive them. The messaging and chatting works, when i activate "via server". Server uses iptables, forwarding and masquerading. I opened port 5190, that should be the reason why traffic works. If the solution is to allow direct connections to my clients, how do i allow it? As i read, the port for this is dynamic and i do not want to open a wide range of ports in my firewall...
  12. This form of routing is only for the machine. Not from one net to the other. The "route" command is only for kernel routing, so the machine with the kernel knows where to put a package. What i need is a way to tell the machine how to send from one net to the other, p.e. 192.168.0.23 wants to ping 192.168.1.14 Must i install the "routed"? Or can iptables do this in the way it forwards to the internet?
  13. Plain iptables. Can i "iptable" this? I thought i'd have to find out a special way to do this via "route"?
  14. I've got two NIC's, one per subnet. How do i tell this machine to let each subnet acces the other over this machine? I looked in the "route" manual, but didn't find the right way for this..
  15. WHAT A GREAT F...K!!! I did a filesearch in rpmdrake and it found a pacgage "php-ini"!!!! LET'S GUESS WHAT WAS IN THIS PACKAGE  But no hint, that i have to install it seperately
  16. ...i saw "tmpfs" in my fstab, that's why i mentioned it. Don't know what it is, thought it is a type of ramdisk, becuase mounted on /tmp. It's a standard installation of LM9.1 I get the error that /tmp is nearly full, but it is connected to this mystic "tmpfs", so i don't know how to handle...
  17. @jentje:I WROTE that i installed php!! Only thing is, that, i believe, Mandrake handles this without php.ini, because normally it should be in /etc, but there it isn't. Or do you have it there?? My aim is to turn "safe_mode" off, but without php.ini i don't know where. Next i try to create one, hopefully it will be read by httpd...
  18. How does this "tmpfs" thing work? I got many errors concerning full /tmp-path, but i didn't find any docu for changing it....
  19. Can't find it. Need it for getting the server working as wanted! I installed the old Apache 1.3.xx + php4.3.xx
  20. Warning: opendir() [function.opendir]: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 0 is not allowed to access /var/www/html/haw owned by uid 0 in /var/www/html/templates/sql.php on line 30 Why?? Didn't specify any "safe_mode" options as mentioned in the manual. Just installed Apache, modified nothing, tried to list a directory in an array. Because i don'T want to learn apache in detail, could someone please help me?
  21. Well...tried this. It dumps a core  Perhaps the ps2pdf is not strong enough for this huge file...
  22. Is there a stable one? I'll have to edit a 180MB-file, that's why i need a stable one. I want to delete some parts of this poster to reduce the size....
  23. :( Me too. That's the question. Only thing left is Windows-Apps, there are three i found. But becuase i've got WinXP on a small partition, wine doesn't work all right, think i should have Win98 for it :(
