Installed RealPlayer8-8.0.3-5tex, then mozplugger-1.1.1-3mdk; everything works. Got the advice from http://www.ece.mcgill.ca/~wentsern/index.html some members of this list could benefit from reading the HOWTO.

Achtung! To anyone who dares try Gabbman's tweak: I followed his instructions exactly, and on the next reboot saw the following: The following installation problem was detected while trying to start KDE: No write access to $HOME directory (/) KDE is unable to start. and it sure was. I rebooted in "nonfb", undid his instructions in reverse order and rebooted OK. Gabbman, if you are, as I suspect, a Canadian, leave the sloppy thinking to our southern neighbours. They are the masters of it.

It only launches for that site. When I right-click on a source at http://www.cbc.ca/audio.html The "open-with" menu has no listing for realplayer audio, only video.

The small window contains the name of the source. RealPlayer does not launch, so what is missing is sound. Never tried video streams, as my connection is way too slow.

A lot of twiddling, and still all I get is a small window showing name of the radio station. I'm using RealPlayer-8.0-5mdk.i586.rpm What happens when I click on a link is the small window mentioned above. At http://service.real.com/test/ the sound is perfect. And when I try View/Preferences/Transport/Automatically select best transport/auto-configure it says: could not connect. Anyone?

Has anyone got Realplayer working? I've just uninstalled it again, have had no success. Help?

This morning, while waiting on a download, I was looking through some files and idly clicked File>Print. It printed! WTF, eh?

In mcc there is only a choice of CUPS or LPRng. Tried both, no joy.

Has anyone ever got the z35 to work? I'm using mdk 9.1. It will print a test page, but no text. Ran (as root) checkpc, and got no errors. Ran out of things to try. Help? :roll:

Here is where I've got to so far: Created a mountpoint, and when I click on /mnt/windows I see a file named tmp, which has the keyhole. Useless. But as superuser, it shows the contents of hdb. I'm guessing that this might be something to do with Permissions, or Ownership; in Properties for windows I see Permissions has User checked for all three "Show Entries" "Write Entries" and "Enter", while only "Show Entries" is checked for Group and Others. Ownership is User:root , Group:root. So my question now is: Is it possible to put a windows icon on the desktop that needs only be clicked to show the contents of windows?

4. click the tab for you second drive, (porbably hdb) and use the tools there to select the mount point. Erm, I have little understanding of what a mount point is, and dare not experiment with that page. Could you explain what to do at greater length?

I installed mdk 9.1 with the second drive unplugged, then made the linux drive hda and wrote the boot code into /etc/lilo.config It works well, can boot into windows98, but I'd like to see into it. Its not listed in /etc/fstab. How can I get mdk to see it, and then put an icon on the desktop to open it? Beware, very newby :?

In /home/william/ directory when I ls -l I get: -rw------- 1 501 william 0 May26 10:05 .ICEauthority (I'm getting that sinking feeling that it might be time for a format and re-install)

Tried rename to /home/me/.ICEauthority.bak , this had no result. Wonder if its possible to (first reverse the rename) and undo the cp /etc/pam.d/xscreensaver /etc/pam.d/kscreensaver3 Is there a way of finding if this file still exists?

Did that - cannot see any difference; still hangs. :(
