  1. But if you've come this far, why not just add the menu entry and the tray icon by hand? Only a few more clicks, right?

If you didn't uninstall your rpm then you'll still have the icons for the old version, but either way you can just add new icons for the new version.

Right you are, that is all I needed to do, thanks for the nudge.

  2. I don't think you need to. If you have the install package from the Firefox website then just follow its install instructions.

Then open MCC and uninstall the rpm version of Firefox.

Best Solution ??? Just wait a few days and the rpm updated version will be available in MCC updates. :D :D :D .

    Cheers. John.

The Firefox instructions do not really instruct. I can run the new version by clicking the firefox file in the extracted folder, but it is not linked to the menu and tray icons. Sounds like waiting for the rpm is best for me.

  3. Type as root

    modprobe snd-pcm-oss

    Paste here

    lsmod | grep snd

    ....Lex

I did this but still have no audio on You Tube.

    [root@192 rik]# modprobe snd-pcm-oss

    [root@192 rik]# lsmod | grep snd

    snd_pcm_oss 48960 0

    snd_pcm 79784 1 snd_pcm_oss

    snd_timer 20548 1 snd_pcm

    snd_page_alloc 8392 1 snd_pcm

    snd_mixer_oss 16896 1 snd_pcm_oss

    snd 46116 4 snd_pcm_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer,snd_mixer_oss

    soundcore 7008 3 snd,i810_audio

    [root@192 rik]#

If problem returned write line to /etc/modprobe.preload

    snd-pcm-oss

But You have problem with your sound card .....Lex

    What does this mean?

I do not understand what to do. modprobe.preload is a file, how do I write to it?
