  1. After upgrading to the latest version of Firefix, I now get the following error when starting Firefox and Epiphany: "Could not initialize the browsers security components. The most likely cause is problems with files in your browser's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions..." .mozilla in my /home directory has read write access for my account and my group's account.
  2. I've run a portscan on my mdv2007 system. Port 113 auth / ident responds as closed, rather than being stealthed. How do I stealth the port? I'm using the Mandriva firewall.
  3. I have an Intel board with a 965 chipset, and which uses the JMicron Marvel IDE controller for removeable drives. I've been able to install and use the system using the all-generic-ide irqpoll boot paramaters (install also needed pci=nommconf) I've upgraded my kernel to 2.6.17.8mdv which includes a driver for the controller (advisory MDKSA-2007-:002). How do I change to this driver for the controller? Currently it tries to use the ata_piiv driver, which causes the system to lock on boot unless I use: all-generic-ide irqpoll [moved from Installing Mandriva by spinynorman]
  4. Have you installed: compiz, mesa and task-3ddesktop
  5. try booting from the install disk with these kernel parameters added (press esc, then type "linux" and the following": all-generic-ide irqpoll pci=nommconf Once installed you may need to add all-generic-ide irqpoll to your boot paramaters untill a kernel update is provided.
  6. Where can I download kernel updates from, specifically kernel 2.6.17.8mdv . This was the subject of a security advisory on January 2nd. [moved from Installing Mandriva by spinynorman]
  7. I can only start Xorg using the vesa driver at 800x600. If I configure it to run the Xorg Intel 810 driver and at a larger resolution I get an error stating no device was found.
