I have downloaded the file, followed the installation instructions - the result is below - can anyone advise what I should be doing?

    [root@localhost Desktop]# chmod a+x RealPlayer10GOLD.bin

    [root@localhost Desktop]# ./RealPlayer10GOLD.bin

./RealPlayer10GOLD.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    Thanks for your time,

  2. I use Firefox - and have an email account with yahoo.

when reading my mail some - not all - come in with unusual characters - for example

     â€

Could it be that I have a setting that needs changing or something else?

    Any suggestions - thank you,

    ernie

  3. I am looking for some guidance please -

I downloaded the latest version of Firefox 1.5.05 (the version I am currently running is 1.0.6)

I followed the instructions - placing the tar file in the /usr/lib where the current version is installed.

I expected that when I untarred the file it would update the extising directory with the latest version - however this was not so I know have in /usr/lib the following directories

/usr/lib/firefox (which is the lastest version) and

usr/lib/mozilla-1.0.6 and usr/lib/mozilla which has the plugin folder

When I use the icon to start firefox it is version 1.0.6 that starts -

could anyone tell me the best way to set up the system to that firefox-1.5.0.5 is the active browser.

    Thank you for your time,

  4. To listen to programmes on the BBC radio I have downloaded RealPlayer 10 for Linux as rpm and installed it using the software installer.

The programme is installed at "/usr/local/RealPlayer"

When I first tried to listen to an archived radio programme on the bbc site - a pop up message appeared saying that Real Player was not installed.

Can anyone advise me how to resolve this so I can use RealPlayer to listen to BBC radio programmes. I am a very inexperienced user so would appreciate it if you could give any instructions in a newbie proof way.

    Thanks for your time,

    ernie

  5. Can anyone advise how to set up Konqueror so that folders always open in Detailed List view?

I have tried but so far have not found the commands to set this up.

One other thing - Virus Protection - I am running Mandriva 2006 - and found nothing on virus protection in the set up instructions - I have heard that linux is very secure - should I install virus protection?

    Thank you for your time,

    ernie

  6. I am painfully new to Linux - and may be making a very basic mistake - the below output is a result of my efforts to extract the speedtouchconf files - can someone advise where I am going wrong?

    erniev@localhost ~]$ ls

    Desktop/ Music/ speedtouchconf-2.0-09_Jan_2006.tar.gz*

    Documents/ Pictures/ tmp/

    Download/ simple* Video/

    [erniev@localhost ~]$ tar xzvf speedtouchconf-2.0.09_Jan_2006.tar.gz

tar: speedtouchconf-2.0.09_Jan_2006.tar.gz: Cannot open: No such file or directory

tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

    tar: Child returned status 2

tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

    [erniev@localhost ~]$

    thanks,

  7. I have loaded Mandriva 2006 on my desktop - no windows -

In the household there is two laptops - windows xp - which have wireless connectivity with a Belkin Router/ADSL Model Number F5D7633-4.

If it is possible I would like to install a wireless card in my desktop and access the internet through the Belkin.

Does Madrive 2006 include support for any particular wireless cards - if yes can you tell my where I can find which ones are supported. If not are there any wireless cards which are known to be relatively simple to to set up - being a newbie (and old enough to have difficulty learning new tricks) simplicity is preferred.

wireless card or wireless usb - whatever works best....

Many thanks for taking the time to read this request
