a little progress, I changed in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
MII_NOT_SUPPORTED=no in MII_NOT_SUPPORTED=yes
(I believe ifplugd is not run)
then, at boot, the activation of eth0 is OK.
There is still something strange: in mcc, my lan is known as non connected however everything seems to be working all right
-
thank you I will try all that stuff :D

I always have FAILED when it goes to the initiallisation of my networking card [02:05.0 Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c940 1000Base? (rev 12)] but I have full access to the Internet and my LAN is working all right.
Has anyone solved this ?
TIA
Chris
OOUPS, I think it is the same problem as in this topic

Hi all,
When I logout, I had usually an automatic shutdown but now I have to manually power off (mdk10 OE)
How do I settle this ?

I just used the standard /usr/bin/oggenc with no special optimizations but I found it very fast and probably the best in terms of musicality (at least to my ears :D )
-
After reading this post, I tried Grip and discovered the multiprocessor option. Ouahhh! It is very fast.
Surely recommend Grip with SMP

It works again :D
I was trying to modify the profile of an opened gnome-terminal
of course when modifying gnome-terminal properties, it works all right :D
thanks again

thanks bvc for your help,
I was used to the geometry option but now with gnome 2.4 I can't find how to use it
feel very stupid :woops:

How can I preset the size of a gnome-terminal window ?

hi all,
I have nearly the same problem with 10.0 OE. I can't use my standart PS/2 mouse (right button and wheel from time to time) that was working properly under 9.2. With mousedrake, I can't change the default choice "universal mouse".
Can anybody summarize the solution since there is many propositions in this thread ?
TIA

well, so I am not alone in that case but It does not seem to inspire the network gurus

I move from 9.2 to 10.0 on another desktop with another lan card (which semms to be very well recognized). Everything worked fine with 9.2 but now with 10.0 , during boot process eth0 initialization process answers always failed. I have a netgear router with an ADSL modem with mdk 9.2 (static IP), mdk 10.0 (static IP), 3 desktop with XP (dynamic IP with DHCP). /etc/hosts and /etc/resolv.conf seems ok for me and when I open mcc and go in the internet menu, there is type of connection: LAN but always not connected. However I can surf without any problem!
I suspect that during installation, mdk 10 has initialized another connection ? but can't manage to solve my problem.

ok, i'll have a try :D

hi all,
I have mdk 9.2 running with lilo (waiting for switching to mdk 10.0 because mdk 10.0 ce upgrade says my hda partition is wrong and wants to perform its own partionning..arggh...).
My question is who can give advices on how installing gentoo leaving mdk as it is and switching from one to one with lilo ?
Basic question, I'm afraid but I don't want to fire out what's working fine
TIA

hi all,
I am trying for the first time to compile my kernel. I read and followed the FAQ KC01 by aru but I am stopped at that line
cp /usr/src/linux/config /boot/config-VERSION
I have no config file in /usr/src/linux
Moreover I am not sure to have well understanden the command mkinitrd
Any explanations welcome !
-
thanks,
I will give feedback... :D
-
oui, pas de probleme
any help appreciated...
I will make a résumé of the installation stuff (vdr, dvb-s driver, vdr plugin) when all will work!
-
Has anyone installed vdr and the dvb-s driver ? Looking for indications
-
ok, this
python btdownloadheadless.py --max_upload_rate 10 --url http://213.232.94.77/test/pclinuxos-1.20.04.iso.torrent
or this
btdownloadcurses.py --max_upload_rate 10 --url http://213.232.94.77/test/pclinuxos-1.20.04.iso.torrent
works fine.
BUT, if you dl the .torrent file "pclinuxos-1.20.04.iso.torrent" from http://213.232.94.77
and then
btdownloadcurses.py --max_upload_rate 10 pclinuxos-1.20.04.iso.torrent
there is a problem
however
btdownloadcurses.py pclinuxos-1.20.04.iso.torrent
is still working fine !!!
-
still something is annoying me
this
[chris@tux incoming]$ btdownloadcurses.py mmove.torrent
is working. A nice window opens, and the file is saved in the dir incoming :D
but this
[chris@tux incoming]$ btdownloadcurses.py --max_upload_rate 10 mmove.torrent These errors occurred during execution: [00:02:42] error: Too many args - 0 max. run with no args for parameter explanations
