Which video driver should I download from the Nvidia site for my ASUS V7100PRO64Pure64MB Video:

IA 64

Free BSD

nForce Drivers

I had to change the XF86Config-4 file to "nv" (with much help) to get the system to start. Also, the FAQ describes the installation by downloading the file to the target computer. The "Linux" computer is not online. Can I transfer the files to my "Linux" computer on a CDR after download and then install them?

I got 9.1 running on my homebuilt thanks to this board. I used the software installer to install Wine. How do I find where this program was installed and launch it? Thanks, Will

I did not load the files because when I typed "urpmi binutils" It stated: "Everything already installed"

when I checked /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 it looked like:

Section "Device"

Identifier "device1"

BoardName "NVIDIA GeForce2 DDR (generic)"

Driver "nvidia"

Option "DPMS"

EndSection

Is the "option DPMS" a problem are the drivers loaded? Should I reload them (If so, how?) I am grateful for all of the help

When I ran "depmod -a" the cursor returned and blinked for about 5 seconds then the command line reappeared. I then entered "startx" and got the same blank screen that I eventually arive at when I boot normally.

I was able to test. The screen went blank and then returned me to the command line - I'm guessing that this was not the desired outcome.

I am forced to humbly reply: How do I test the graphics configuration during the install?

Hello, I'm am very new to Linux, got my 9.1 discs loaded the program and after help at the Installing Forum am stuck at a blank screen during the initial boot up. I looked at the How to install the nVidia driver FAQ but it seems to assume that Linux is up and running. It states that I should "Open a console and type the following command" The only way that I can find to get to a console is to boot from the installation disk then go to rescue and console. When I type the instructions from the FAQ it says that it is a bad command or the directory is not found. Am I chasing the wrong rabbit? Shouldn't this video card work without the updated drivers? Any help is greatly appreciated.

It is an Nvida but I suppose that the driver is not working (unless I need to set it to run 2D?) What is "3-d with open gl"? It would be difficult to be any Newbie-er than I am and I do appreciate all the help. -Will

Success with the "Finding Module Dependencies" problem after disabling the Plug n Play, However, after a few more seconds of activity, the screen goes blank. Could it be my video card? The monitor is a Samsung Synchmaster 955DF.

Sorry, I don't boot from XP. I first INSTALLED xp on my hard drive. Next I INSTALLED Mandrake 9.1. After installing for the 1st time and rebooting as the final part of the intallation procedure it hangs at "Finding Module Dependencies"

First experince with Linux not going well. Built first computer, loaded Xp then Linux 9.1 from discs. Goes well until restart then hangs at "Finding Module Dependencies" Any help GREATLY appreciated.
